B2 years, reason for short lifespan?

I'm sure this is somewhere on this site, but I can't find it.....

Just curious what years the B2 was available? I've heard anywhere from 6 months to 2 years.

Associated website says 95 to 97.

Also, what was the reason it was only in production for such a short period of time? Heck, even at the max 2 year mark, that's markedly short for any product.

The B3 and even B4 don't seem *that* different. I know arm lengths changed, and that the B3 upgrade kit was available for your B2, but still, seems like a crap ton of design and engineering work for a car to only be around for such a short period. Was the B2 that bad that they had to "correct" it with the B3 in just 2 years? Was there a big inherant problem with the car?

i emailed the rc10 site the same question u asked. they said they will have to look in their files it might take some time. that was 3 days ago ill follow up with them by the end of next week and see what they have to say

From the miscellaneous things I've read, my guess is 1995, 1996 for production...
I don't think it was an issue of the car being "bad", but that the improvements just made it significantly better. The changes between the B2 and the add-on B3 upgrade kit look relatively minor if you look at them individually, but I think when combined, they made a very noticeable difference. But hey, I don't claim to be an expert, so just my 2 cents.

B3 changed arms lengths and front geometry slightly. They also strengthened a couple of areas. Otherwise, it's the same as a B2, so you can consider the B3 a B2+, or B2.1. With a B2 and the B3 conversion, you could have either set of characteristics available.

I remember talking to someone at AE back then and they thought the changes were significant enough to call it a B3.... That was before the .1 .2... etc. craze that was coined for software updates.

I think a part of it was the era it existed in. The mid '90s were the peak of off-road electric racing, and it was super competitive between Losi and Associated. They pushed each other in ways they hadn't in the past, and the drivers of the time were some of the most popular figures in rc history. Of course, it might just seem that way to me!

I always wondered why the B2 had a composite chassis while the T2 had an aluminum chassis...
