So,

Team Associated - they say they will send me a new axle, but they're in the process of inventory counting so it won't be until that's finished in a couple of days.

CML Distribution - they also say they will send me one. But they don't have any and will have to get one from AE, hopefully sometime in the next week.

The supplier - they told me CML had been in touch with them and CML would sort it.

Meantime, the best price I could find for a new #6801 kit was from amainhobbies in the US. So I've ordered another one to make sure I get the part. It will be handy for spare steering knuckles as well I guess.

So, one way or another, I should be able to get the last wheel on. It's just going to take longer whilst waiting for shipping.

At this point I’d simply sand the anodizing off it and use it until the new ones arrive. It won’t do any good the way it is ;-)

Just wanted to give credit to CML Distribution.

On Friday 22nd I had an email to say they'd had the #6801 kits come into stock, and asked for my address so they could send a new axle.

On Saturday 23rd the new axle arrived, despite the Christmas post!

Haven't had chance to fit the axle yet but have slipped the bearings on to it, to make sure they fit - which they do :)

My order for a spare #6801 kit from Amainhobbies is still enroute and I've heard nothing more from AE.

But thanks to Keith @ CML I should soon have 4 wheels on my RC10.

Happy holidays all!

The new 6801 kit has arrived from AMain, quicker than expected. I've also heard from AE that they have shipped me a new axle too.

So I can now move on and get the wheels all mounted and fit the electrics.

Although, I think I'm going to need to rebuild the diff again as I used the wrong sort of grease.

It lives!!

After having issues with one of the shiny, blue, front axles being out of spec. And (losing) a battle with a stripped grub screw. I've finally received and fitted a replacement.

Now I've been able to mount the wheels, test fit some electrics and see if it moves.

So far it's only done a little drive down our hallway and back. But it runs and drives :)

Next step is to firmly fit the electrics and mount the nicely painted body that I received yesterday. I also need to rebuild the diff with the proper lube as I could hear slipping even on the little test drive.

The electrics fitted are:

Reedy Sonic M3 17.5T brushless motor.

Trackstar Sportsman 60A brushless ESC

Bluebird 621DMG-HS servo

Pics will be coming, but I want to get the body mounted up first.

A friend of mine put a lot of effort into the body for me, so I want to get it fitted so I can show it as a whole.

Soon as I've done that, I'll post some pics and list out the changes/tweaks I've made (the ones I can remember anyway!)

Okay, fair enough.
Speaking of body, this is totally random and unrelated but someone has posted this car on ebay today and I really really like this look. Simply old school cool.

I've rebuilt the diff. Used proper AE Stealth Diff Lube this time.

I haven't been able to test it properly yet as I borrowed the motor sensor cable for another build. But the action feels much better.

New sensor cable is on the way.

Also ordered a new wing mount.

Yep.

I'd originally built it with black grease on the thrust balls, but had used ceramic grease on the main balls.

Have stripped, cleaned and rebuilt it and used the Stealth lube on the main balls.

Thing about ball diff's you have to use silicon grease on the main balls. Nothing else works!
As far as the thrust balls the stock grease is molybdenum but silicon will work also.
The six gear RC10 was originally built with silicon grease in thrust position, Schumacher cat also and all 1/12th pan cars. Modern cars including respective RERE all use molybdenum.

As far as wing mount goes the RERE piano wire is junk. Get some 1.6mm piano wire from hobby shop and bend one yourself. :D

The right grease is now in the right place in the diff :D

I ordered the #6181 high down force wing kit. I don't need the wing, although having a spare will be handy, but it was the only wing mount I could get.
