Preliminary investigation RC10 FF
So I have this thought of creating a front wheel drive rc10.
I found this pic that Asso_man posted in a "body question thread"
http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?t=41267
I think that this one has Yokomo hubs and knuckles and as they are extremely hard to source I'm thinking... Kyosho OT204 c-hubs and OT211 knuckles.
I have not yet found suitable a-arms and this would also need rc10 rear arm mounts 0 deg toe-in and 3 deg anti-squat.
Well that is how far i've come but this will be a slow growing project if ever made into reality

Sure thing Asso_man
What do you say, gold pan or graphite chassis... or one each?
I have no idea whose car it is, but I like itGrizzly.RC10 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2017 12:00 pm This is not the car of "Albuisson Didier" , a French Driver ?

Re: Preliminary investigation RC10 FF
you should be able to flip the arm mounts side to sideto get what you need, I think there are parts on shapeways that would be available in the 0 toe you are looking for. Of course, since the fronts steer anyway, you should be able to dial in any toe you want with the turnbuckles. Any toe in the arms would end up being a wheelbase change kinda.
Rc10 rear arms with the kyosho hubs/knuckles would probably work out just right with b4 universals and b4 rear wheels. actually, since the kyosho parts are metric, maybe you need to investigate losi 22 universals, I think the axles are 5mm and would be close in length to b4. of course there will likely have to be some juggling of spacers/bearings/washers etc. maybe even kyosho universals if you have extra money to burn, hah.

Here are the 0-deg arm mounts you need

Re: Preliminary investigation RC10 FF
Way to wide for a buggy. JG dog bones for their truck conversion arms seem to be the right fit but I'm not 100% sure they'll work yet. The other problem with RC10 rear arms is they're not swept back far enough to get the angle on the steering links right. But I ain't telling you why I've tested that.
The car in the above pic looks to have the arms moved back and don't appear to be using stock RC10 arm mounts. I think they might be Traxxas rear mounts?
Here's another FF conversion that used stock short arms. If it also used RC10 front arm blocks, and optima knuckles it'd end up about 7mm (3.5mm per side) narrower than an A-Main bullet.

Re: Preliminary investigation RC10 FF
The arms in the pic look to be yokomo 870c. They are close to rc10 length but yeah, offset would prevent easy steering setup.
Phin, don't forget you are thinking buggy nose, this is the buggy rear part of the chassis, a lot narrower.

Re: Preliminary investigation RC10 FF
I didn't miss what end of the chassis the cars were using. When I was helping Jeff out with the A-Main Bullet we had to narrow up the space between the arm mounts compared to a buggy nose to get the correct front track. That car used RC10 short arms, stock front blocks, dog bones and Optima caster blocks and steering. The fwd RC10 conversion in the magazine article I linked uses RC10 short arms but unknown steering parts or inner blocks.
Now, the rear arm mount holes on a tub are narrower than what was used on the Bullet...originally I thought 7mm narrower but it might actually be 10mm total (or 5mm per side). That'd make the rear arm mount holes too narrow to use the same suspension parts as a Bullet but not narrow enough to use RC10 rear arms with Optima casters and knuckles.
RC10 rear arms are ~15mm wider than short arms, pin to pin....so that'd leave the car 10mm too wide per side. Rear arm mounts will also add a couple of mm per side compared to the front arm mounts.
Team car length front arms with Optima caster blocks, and steering blocks should be closer to buggy width.

Yeah I'm forgetting that the kyosho parts are a lot wider than the yokomo parts per side. I was also think B4 wheels to give you a little more room.

Re: Preliminary investigation RC10 FF
So a-arms looks to be Yokomo ZC-407.
C-hubs and knuckles looks to like Optima, but c-hubs in aluminum? and (OT16 plastic) knuckles.
Rear top shock mounts Optima OT47/OT55.
Looks like the rear (front) arm mounts are cutdown rc10 mounts.
Steering linkage. Mounted offset and looks very familiar, but I cant put my finger on it... Andy's, Hogues??
