"Free Hand me down parts" rc10

Post by tuna.Rc »

On a rc related Facebook group , this 13 year old kid is cobbling department store rc car parts to make a rc car go faster . He ended up using construction screws to hold stuff together because he didn't have glue . I couldn't watch his full video , but I think it worked , judging by the comments . Some people were supportive , a lot just made fun of him , played that "wtf am I looking at " role . Bunch of spoiled over grown a$$ holes that forgot what the meaning of rc is . The kid is just trying to build a rc from the scrap bits he has , he wants something so he's trying to build it. Not sitting around crying about what he can't get and play Xbox .

Anyway , I have a rough , ugly basher rc10 wide arm buggy I will donate . It's a stealth car , but I don't think the trans is complete . It's just a roller . I have a used nicad 7.2v bat with tamiya plug that I can throw in.

He will need a rx / tx , motor , esc , buggy rims and tires .

This buggy I have , it's a project I've never finished . Couldn't even sell it for $30 shipped . Even though it's a nearly complete roller ! I'd rather give to a kid in need , a kid that will enjoy it than make $15 off it .

I don't know if he can handle assembling and setting up a rc10. I don't have the parts supply I used to have , and with me having heart problems and my life going to hell in a hand basket , I don't have time to build this rc10 .

Basically asking you guys for donations on used parts to make this car work for this kid . I'm not asking for new tires , a 2.4ghz radio or brushless set . Old crystal radio set and brushed set up will be fine . This kid was proud that his build worked , then has grown MEN laughing at hum and making fun of him . He will be more than happy with used hand me down stuff .

I'm looking for a trust worthy member that I can send what I have , and other members to donate what ever , and someone set this car up for this kid and send it to him.

So no , I'm not asking for anyone to send ME free parts , I want to send what I have to someone , others chip in and finish this car for this kid .

If any one can help , I'll post pictures of what I have , let's see if we can build this kid a budget basher.

Do you have a link to the kids Facebook build thread or his name to find his project on Facebook?

I have some parts I’d be willing to give to the cause.

Let me see if I can copy and post link . It's rc junkie on Facebook.

Orangemazda , would you be willing to take what I have and what ever anyone else donates and make it work for the kid , and send it?

I can give up what I have , and send it to someone to build, but that's about all I can do.

The kid is Kenyon Paypen , I can't copy a link to his post

Here's what I have to offer . It won't ever be pretty, but it can be made to go. It'd put a smile on a kids face . I know I would have loved to have this fine worthless pile when I was a kid.

I'd be willing to chip in a bit for a radio and receiver. Anyone have any experience with these, for 20 bucks they got pretty good reviews! https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F222533093426
I may have some wheels and tires laying around too, I'll have to look.

Here is the link. It is in the "RC Junkies" group.

***EDIT***

due to the bashing people were dishing out it looks like an admin deleted the post to save the kid.

here is link to his profile

here is a link to his mom's profile

https://www.facebook.com/paulapapen?fref=ufi

Tuna,

If you want to spearhead the efforts in getting donated parts to make the car a runner, I’m willing to build it into a working car.

Have you contacted the boy and/or his mom?

No I haven't messaged anyone , I had a few people that were interested in donating parts , on that thread , but since it was deleted, back to square one .

I can send you the buggy I posted pictures of , if you can build it , and others chip in on parts and send them to you, that'd be , if you're willing to do it that way.

I just noticed at the bottom of this thread , 4 people donated . I don't know how that got set up, but if that's accurate, that'd probably cover a good brushed set up . Or how ever you want to build it .

Tuna,

I’ll message you my address.

If it’s ok with everyone, I’d like this thread to remain the official donation thread so everyone knows publicly what’s been donated so that everything remains “above board”.

Does that sound good or does anyone have any other thoughts about this?

The donation thing you're seeing at the bottom of the page is to keep 10Talk funded, has nothing to do with donations for this car for the kid. You'll see that donation thing at the bottom of every thread if you look.

Btw, I'm happy to supply the radio and receiver, will order a set off eBay soon. I'll also look through my wheels and tires, see what I have. What else is needed other than esc and motor?

I have a good futaba ESC and brushed motor.

The car itself looks like it will need a few tidbits but I’ll assess that when it arrives.

Off the top, as far as the car, I can see it needs:

Body, wing, wing wire and wing button set
Wheels & tires
Front wheel bearings

I have a new 6-cell NiMH I can put in too, however I don’t have a charger for it.
