the attention to detail is mind-boggling as usual
The wing button isn't squared up
"Smacks forehead" My apologies, missed that!
The body and wing are very close to being done with only some minor touch ups left to do. I was able to get the body low enough on the chassis to trim it level with the bottom of the chassis plate.
I'm getting some wiring/soldering done over the next couple of days.
That's a cool trick using the brass sleeve. Since you've made the wing's button fixtures from scratch, could you also have sized them to use larger wire that is a direct fit to the FW mounts? Anyway, I like how the body roof sits below the top of the shock plate as it places the wing high and in cleaner air. Should look awesome when it's painted. Nice work Nomad!!
I got some wiring done last night/this morning. The small plate I was working on turned into an ESC capacitor mount. Slick?, yes, really needed?, no but I do things like that all the time.
ESC to motor wiring with 2.5mm gold plated bullets. I'm seeing a little gold showing so my shrink wrap needs to be re-done.
I just checked and my website is up, although we don’t have a lot of pics added. Honestly we keep so busy getting product made and out the door I just don’t have time to sit down and do the web stuff. Most of our popular stuff is on eBay as well. FactoryWorksRC
Both go to the same place, and are both up on my end
It's time to stand up to the bully. Support the companies that support the industry, not the ones that tear it down. Say no to Traxxas Factory Works website

Ive been watching the progress of this car since i signed up on this site. Man this thing is really cool and all the parts you made are top notch.
I tried to go on the factory works website and it appears to be down. It just says image coming soon...
Best bet is have a look at the Factory Works products listed on eBay (I do) and if you see something of interest, you can find more about it by getting with GoMachV here on the forum. Simple, easy, and definitely a rewarding experience.
I just read this entire thread. Just amazing. Love the attention to detail. I so want to get myself set up with a lathe. I love the custom touches. They really set it apart.

Thank you very much. I really like to make small things for a build that are not readily available. I was doing just that when the sun was rising this morning... for another build (SSC10)!
This is a build for a customer, I'm still finishing it. I have to say, as much as I hate Carbon Fiber, it sure looks nice!

Hey, that's right! I found a good photo online that has very little perspective, laid my six-hole directly on my laptop screen over the photo and resized the photo until their sizes match and the holes you mentioned line-up perfectly. Now, I can...
Hey guys, I have what appears to be a carbon fiber or black fiberglass front shock tower. I know it's not dyed, because you can see the material was molded that way(dye jobs on 'glass tend to be a little inconsistent). It matches exactly with my old...

I have a rear in black that has the same texture as the natural type.
So I have the Drawer liner to get the right pattern, but I want to add a twist.
Yellow weave/Carbon Kevlar!
Looking for something like this:
So, Im trying to locate something that will give me a fine line, instead of squares . I was thinking...

Hummm too hard for my taste.
I stick to
Tamiya Smoke 2-3 coats
Ductape Brand Carpet Tape
back it with silver paint or silver vinyl
^^ it even gives you this reflective shine in the sun.
I was laying up some carbon the night for a totally unrelated project and up on the bench I had a dynotech tail tank, for the heck of it I grabbed a scrap of cloth (the fibers were a little messed up on it, hence it being scrap) and tucked it in the...

Is it pretty stiff? Can't believe I'm asking a grown man that! But compared to lexan? I thought carbon was tough ___ stuff?
carbon is tough, but it doesn't have the same impact absorption qualities. I don't know if you've ever had a peice of thick...
What exactly is the difference? BITD we always called carbon fiber graphite . Well, here in southern Indiana anyway. The 10L graphite for instance is obviously carbon fiber right? They were like 90% of the sales when I worked at the LHS in...

Here's a good link of a piece Steve Husting wrote on Graphite Myths for the Team Associated website explaining the difference between the use of graphite impregnated parts vs. those of (stock) impact resistance plastic/nylon...............

anyone have a good source for 2.5 or 3mm sheets of carbon fiber? need a bunch of it, 18 x whatever long.. anyone ever find some on the cheap side lol? dragonplate seems expensive to me
What's the best method to clean up the carbon fiber on my original RC10L? I'm giving it a complete going-over and notice the CF just doesn't have the deep sheen it had 21-years ago. It's got a bit of an oxidized look to it and I'd like to bring back...

WD40 and a soft rag does wonders. ;)
That's a good, easy tip. The chassis has very few scratches so this works well. Thanks!
