Six gear idlers tech tip.

I remember having a really hard time with the tiny screws and allen key.
Well that was 32 years ago.

This is the easy way to get those little 0-80 x3/16" things in. The 0.35" allen key is a little fiddly!

Just get a 0.9mm MIP allen driver makes getting them in a breeze...

On one of my 6 gear trannies, when I cracked it open it had red idler gears..not dyed, but molded in red. Very faintly I can read (I think) Polar Plastics, somewhere NY.

They are extremely smooth. One gear is a bit chewed and noisy, but still...

Since I'll be eventually upgrading to a brushless ESC & motor combination, I've been doing a lot of research on bulletproofing my T.Optima's drivetrain. Note that I'll be sticking with chain drive for now, as I can't either find or afford a belt...

If you have a Tamyia TS color that is not offered in PS (polycarbonate/lexan) you can put down a couple coats of PS Satin clear and the TS paint will adhere to it. Been painting RC bodies for 30 years and just learned this....

If you don't have loctite, raid the wife's fingernail polish and find some clear. It works like loctite, but cheap and releases with minimal pressure.

The shrinktube on the CVD is a great tip.

Use Shoe Goo to keep your axle pins in place...DO NOT EXPAND THE ENDS BECAUSE YOU ARE AFRAID THEY WILL FALL OUT !!!! Then the next person who you give the car to or sell the car to has to resort to medieval tactics to get them suckers...
