RC10GT Throttle/Brake Servo Horn Adapter Issue

Post by PerryCodes »

So if you've ever owned an RC10GT, you probably know about this servo horn adapter that screws on top of a compatible servo horn, which then controls the throttle and brake.

I've had no problem fitting this to JR (23t) and Futuba (25t) servos... but for the life of me, I can't find an appropriate horn for my Hitec (24t) servos! I bought an HS-965MG and HS-985MG because they offered some decent specs and would allow me to use a spare receiver that is analog-only.

They both came with some very high quality horns - but not even close to what I need to mount the adapter. So I bought a standard Hitec horn set from a LHS. These looked closer to what came with the Futaba, but the holes just don't line up like the Futaba's did.

Has anyone else experienced this? Solution?

Thanks!

I'm guessing the chances of finding someone else using a Hitec servo for the Throttle/Brake is extremely slim... looks like I'm on my own here. Maybe I'll get lucky in the future, but we'll see!

In the meantime, I may just go with a Savox considering they are 25T like Futaba (which must have been the prominent servo back when this truck was designed and sold).

I'd love to hear from others regarding another throttle/brake servo issue I'm having... The reason why I didn't end up using the JR servo was the overall height that the servo horn adapter ends up at.... The adapter was so low that the throttle linkage ends up at a steep enough angle from the rotary carb that the end collar was rubbing on the adapter! If the servo horn adapter is high enough, the throttle linkage is almost flat and there is enough clearance for the collar.

Please respond if you have any experience with either issues regarding the servo horn adapter and the throttle/brake servo for the RC10GT :D

Not sure about the Hitec, I've probably used one at some point or another but can't remember specifically. Even with the two different hole patterns in the adaptor it still wont line up?

If it were me and they didn't line up I would use a pin vise and drill the two required holes in the correct spot.

Servo spacers should raise the servo enough so the linkage is straighter.
I was old school - when old school wasn't cool !

I feel stupid now... I knew there were spacers for the steering servo, but I never thought about using them for the problem I'm having with the throttle/brake servo!

Thanks ;)

If your servos are metal gear, and have metal splines, you can just screw down a futaba horn and the metal splines will cut their own grooves. Not an ideal solution, but I've done it in a pinch with no issues... and I wouldn't expect much shock on a throttle/brake linkage that would cause it to slip.

Hi,

I have some black circular servo horns, 21mm diameter, that fit a Hitec HS-645MG metal gear servo spare if you need one.

According to Servo city, the HS-645MG is 24 spline.

I found these,

Looking at the marks on top you could reduce the outside diameter if they are too large.

Hey guys - thanks for the advice, offers, and links!

I think I may have found a solution and will know in a few days when the package arrives. Seems the ASC7975 Linkage Kit GT2 have a servo horn for 23T, 24T, and 25T... and even better, all the bending is done for you ;)

I'm having such a blast with this GT. I really, really wish there was more support for 1/10 offroad nitro. It's the class that nearly all current 1/8 pros cut their teeth on. And 1/8 just isn't in my budget right now.
