Andy's Chassis RC10T Build

Post by Lavigna »

Hey all. Here goes another build thread. Awhile back I was lucky enough to buy a new Andy's RC10T chassis. I don't know much about them, but they seem to be made of some kind of graphite material. The rear layout of the chassis allows you to run standard rear A arms, or trailing arms. I am planning on running standard rear arms.

I like the look and lines of the chassis. The only change I would have made would be to add a upper deck, like the Composite Craft chassis. Really just for aesthetics though. I like how this chassis has a cutout in the center to allow the battery to sit as low as possible for better COG.

Build - I have been trying to decide how to build this for awhile. I cant decide if I want to keep it all vintage correct, modernize it, or whatever. Also, I have a nice set of original, white arms and plastics. I sort of want to dye these pieces a bright pink or purple. Something similar to the old Novak Rooster RC10T. A color scheme that screams early 90's glam, and will go well with the purple, checkered, and yellow Andy's body I have. However, I am having a hard time deciding to dye a mint set of OG white plastics. I also think all black plastics would look cool and stealthy with this chassis. So, this is my dilemma, lol. Any suggestions would be welcome!

Here are a couple pictures of the new Andy's chassis, and some of the pieces I may be putting towards it. It already has a new vintage A&L bell crank steering w/ CF link. I will keep this thread updated as I progress. Again, I welcome any and all suggestions on this build. Thanks.

That chassis has been altered to except the 10t front end. From the factory it has a buggy kickup.

If you show me one new in package, I will believe you.

It wouldn't have the inner buggy arm mount holes on the kickup from the factory. I cut one just like that myself for a 10t 7-8 year back.

I have to side with scr8p on this one...

I have never seen an Andy's RC10T chassis new in the package. Since you seem quite certain about your chassis not being an altered RC10 chassis, however, curiosity got the better of me. I decided to contact the man himself. According to Andy, they never sold an RC10T chassis.
Something clever goes here...

I do not know any history on the Andy's chassis. I just got lucky when I happened across this one. When I bought it, it was NOT in the package. It was partially built, but never run, and spotless.

I now see what you are saying. I thought you meant a whole different section was added to the front, which is not the case. Yes, this chassis has clearly been cut out in the front and some additional holes added.

I am posting pictures to show that the front is all one piece from the factory. That is what I thought you were talking about. If not, I am sorry for the confusion.

Yeah, they had a standard buggy molded chassis and then the longer molded truck chassis. Basically the same except for the length.

They also had the Pro Race molded chassis which had the narrow kickup like the 10t. But, it was only made in buggy length.

Looking good. Not really feeling the yellow RPM stuff though.

This is by far the best use of this chassis. Cut the nose and build a 10t. 8)
