Help with Truck I.D. T2 or T3

Post by Basher67 »

Picked up a truck today with a Truck today and need a little help with verifying what I have here. I think it's a T2 or T3. I've never owned a T2 and my son got my last T3 so I've got nothing to compare to and they look awfully similar in pics on the internet. All the aftermarket parts make it harder also. The chassis is Andy's and the aluminum wheels look like maybe See's? Houge steering bellcranks and looks like a twisters motor under the cover and some kind of heatsink. I don't recognize the rear arms either. The shock towers look like a poor attempt at dying white fiberglass and the shocks look like maybe stripped of ano and then colored blue somehow. Give me some input guys. What are the differences between a T2 and T3. Was it just the chassis?

Ok. That's a little embarassing. I have two 10T's and didn't recognize this one. The front shock tower doesn't look like any of my other 10T's. The rear arms are really throwing me off. If I would have looked closer at the front arms, I might have figured it out. With no aluminum pan, I instantly was thinking something newer. Any Idea on the wheels or rear arms?

It's actually a buggy chassis.

You nailed it Scr8p. It's too short. That's why it has the buggy style bellcranks instead of the longer truck style right? When sitting side by side with another 10T, the length difference becomes obvious.

It is also excessively wide. Is it possible these wheels were rc10 truck conversion wheels instead of 10T wheels? They were the main reason I bought the truck.

Yeah, they're truck conversion wheels.

Are they See's wheels? Do you recognize the white rear arms?

Looks like the arms are RPM. A little spit and thumb rubbing and I could just make it out in the right light. I bought this with plans for another truck build but it looks like I'm going to figure out something else. Probably tear it apart and use the pieces in other builds.

it would make a great project none the least. Just in my opinion I'd convert it back to buggy and keep the truck conversion parts on it to make a kickass pre10t 'monster' truck. Plus then you got a chance for the truck parts to be revamped into another project

I think I'm going to do that. Truck conversion would be a cool rc10 variation for the collection 8)
