the outdrives are the 'differential halves'. They are what the diff rings fit to and connect the diff to the dogbones and drive the car forward.

gotcha. i see what your saying now. I was thinking lets push the envelope but your right. with this transmission and my driving skill set (or lack thereof) a 17.5t is more than enough for the car and me.

now i just need to figure out what I have in it now and decide if I want to upgrade it from there. (well of course i want to)

Any ideas what the specs are on this motor?

It's a sealed endbell, so it's probably a stock motor of some kind. Depending on timing and construction, they can run pretty well. If you have that motor and the esc, wire it up and check it out.

If you're really worried about tearing up the trans, go with a 17.5. More than enough speed, and most tracks have a class for it.

You could even go with one of the Trackstar combos. jwscab has one in one of his cars and it runs great.

Thanks for the links. i was looking at higher priced setups. this is a lot more reasonable.

No, not an easy way to adjust timing on a sealed endbell. Cut brushes can adjust timing but are fragile and don't last long.
