BETA round 2

i made a lot of changes to the body based on the first run

preview
Image

I tried to chop some more weight out but i put some right back with changes to the body.
the bed now has a pattern rather then just flat like a tonneau cover

the rollbar is now another piece which allows for future additions and less painting since you can just used colored PLA on it.

Image

the front has some changes to the lower grill to better match the 1988 Nissan pickup.

Image

there are some structure changes to the underside. i added more room for a NIMH battery as it was a little too tight.
rounded some sharp edges as well.
Fixes to some areas of the model surface.

 Woah, that is cool. Really cool. Can you add a smoke unit? Nothing I own would be worthy of something this cool, but I want one! What are your plans for it?

actually you could add a smoke unit to it.
the supercharger has impellers and there is a cooling fan for the motor thus there is air movement such that a smoker into the rear of the block would move the smoke around. with more work you could get the smoke out the tailpipes.

Well the design isn't that great it looks cool, however it is pulling a lot of load through the BEC on the ESC and it is right on overload causing the ESC to shutdown sometimes. I pulled the power steering pump and pulley to reduce some load. it would make sense to actually ditch the Impellers for the supercharger and just run a dummy pulley instead of actually trying to move air with it. it would lighten the block more also.

i have some plans for it, but i will need to make changes.

I managed to do a Clear Filament test

This is the current state of Clear capabilities of a 3d printer. the window is Post process about 2 hours worth of sanding.

it is as impressive as it is disappointing. This is the clearest current filament on the market with a very good 3d printer and this is the result.

Clear parts will need to be resin cast using a Polished mould.

some parts would look ok like for taillights or headlights were they don't have to be 100% clear but it will still not look great.

Christmas stuffers: these were tough and lots of fun just like kinder eggs. they 3d print in one shot no assembly the parts all move, wheels spin etc.
The eggs also print as one piece then you crack them open and they are good to go.

That is such a cool idea. Kudos for the quote, too. I'm currently reading the novelization of that movie.

well my free contract with autodesk ended.

FYI it costs 40$ per month or 25$ per month if you do the yearly and there is no cost savings for the current plan over 1 year. so 2 years costs the same as 1 year no additional savings.

the fleecing begins.
