yeah, that is certainly the downside. I really didn't have much option, my choices locally were some real a$$holes at one shop, and another guy that refused to stock parts other than what he carried.

my favorite line, 'hi, I'd like an xyz please' what car is if for? 'a grasshopper' that won't work. period, end of sentence, end of conversation about a part I was willing to buy whether it worked or not.

yeah, that is for sure. i was away from it for quite a while until i got the bug again/had kids. I was pleasantly surprised to see activity in this arena, though as you say, the landscape is certainly changing.

The MAP epidemic has no doubt put Tower back on its heals. Long gone are the days when they could sell Traxxas, Axial, etc. RTRs and kits and offer 15-20% off with a coupon code. High volume is/was their bread-and-butter, and loosing a top selling brand like Traxxas will be tough to overcome.

One of my favorites as well these days, along with RPPHobby.

Getting back to this topic... I've been watching for a Kyosho turbo scorpion that was announced for early January... now it says on order... What does that mean? It's back order even before it is offered for sale?

I know but it's 60$ more if you consider the coupon at Tower. Being Canadian I also have to pay for shipping a customs. So Tower seems the best deal... If they have the cars in stock!

Remember they won't do more runs of the Kyosho re-re buggies... when they're gone, they're gone. Tower had a batch a couple of months ago (that's when I bought mine) and if they have it "on order" now, me thinks they'll never get them any more...

Associated 6577 on Tower Hobbies has been pushed again, now Mid January.

Which is interesting because the Team Associated site is saying early February.

And Tower has closed the Reno warehouse & yet another vendor has pulled out, STRC will no longer send them items to sell. Long post on FB about it. Tower is almost $25K behind on invoices since Sept '16.

Sad...
