Favorite RCCA Picture
Radio Control Car Action always had great photography. They had the best action shots and review pics going.
Here's one of my all-time favorites. What was your favorite?

Great memories

Re: Favorite RCCA Picture
You actually saved me a lot of trouble on this one because I read that article so many times that my fingers bled from the page turning. Which was quite surprising as my palms were very hairy because I was about 14 at the time... At any rate I was the proud owner of my first real R/C a Hornet when that article came out and was ready to make a move. The Marui Big Bear was the fastest if I remember correctly and I'll guess 20.9 MPH without referring to the article so I had to have it. Then... if I remember correctly switched to the Blackfoot for reasons I don't remember although I'd love to have one now actually. In the end I ended up with a Thundershot that Christmas which I would also love to have again (and will), but can't remember now how it even came into the equation. Maybe the ultra cool and aerodynamic body. I never could afford ball bearings for it so it was ultimately a big lead sled POS that never won me a single race (my driving didn't help). Then I moved on to the TQ10, but that's a story for a different day. Love seeing that monster truck line-up pic again!

Re: Favorite RCCA Picture
I literally read this issue until the pages fell out when i was a kid! I was about 7-8 at the time
I got another issue a few months back, so i can look up the details next time i read through. I posted about this on facebook a while back, and Steve Pond has some interesting things to say about it too. Its cool to talk about it all these years later

Re: Favorite RCCA Picture
Not an easy task to choose just one picture, there were just multiple great pictures in RCCAs and I could have choose 10 pictures from different categories. I decided choose a "racing actions shot" and this was one of my favorite:

Re: Favorite RCCA Picture
yeah, that's true.....there would have to be a favorite picture for every month.......and even then just one pic would be tough.
I have to say I love the paint job on the project yokomo in action, that's probably one of my favorites. July 1991 issue.

Re: Favorite RCCA Picture
That picture was really my second choice, but because I used to race a lot BITD, I choose a racing pic. Sorry to post a second pic in here, but I believe many likes this a lot: Jirka

Thanks Jirka! That's the one! Yeah, funny how like minds think, huh?
I think the overall 'feel' of the artwork was always satisfying. I'm not really sure how else to put it. They always combined the photos with complimentary graphics.

Project optima was my second choice. I was going to post a picture of that too, but I couldn't find one in a quick search. Were there some action shots of it too?
I'd like to build one similar to that too with one of my optimas. I don't realistically see spending the kind of money that Tecnacrafts go for these days, but possibly a set of Pargu wheels for a similar look. I haven't been able to find an appropriate truck body of the same wheelbase though.

Yeah that truck and article were great! That would be a cool RERE project!
