If your making panels, 18x24 or 25 seems to be the norm

I want some 7-10 degree laid up for old school 4wd and fwd chassis 8)

Are you making flat plate with a kick up or a full molded pan on a plug?

gomachv.. how big of a piece are you looking for?
I don't have big enough pieces to make a 18x24 plate but a chassis size plate would be easy to do in the food saver bag.

The composite craft 30 degree chassis blank I have is 6x15.5" which should suit most projects

The reason I'm asking I have to make myself a chassis for a 1/10 buggy but didn't want to limit myself for future projects. Or help friends with their builds. Would a 8" wide by 16" length cover most builds? Buggy, truck and 1/8 scale.

Just planning on flat panel right now. Baby steps, I have a few different epoxys and would like to see how they respond to flat panels.

I think 8x16 is fine for most, but if this works out you might wish you went bigger so you can get more material made from one layup

That's the advise I like Jeff. I'm fronting quite a bit of money for metal plates and would prefer to do it once. What's your thoughts if I went 10x18? I worry about distortion if I go to big. This is a pressed mold which needs a different mold than a vacuum mold.

I made a vacuum mold to make carbon sides to my losi scte. 2 layers of carbon sandwiching a layer of Kevlar. Holding up very well.

The widest pan car I could find in my stash is 7" wide, an inch wider than any off-road I have seen. So at 7", how much area would you need around that for a buffer? I know my DA material has about 1/2" of unusable material on the outside. The carbon is wavy and sometimes it's just epoxy. Maybe that's not normal tho? Anyway, I think at 10" wide you would be wasting material. I would go 6" usable like composite craft or 12" so you can get two or a pan car. For length, I think 16 would cover most any 1/10 pan or off road
