and some of us gently rub the boards enough that we strip out servos when using servo savers.

If you want to be fast on turf---no servo saver. I went through this process on my T4.2 while getting it properly setup for turf for the last month. My truck is a factory team edition but someone had changed out the solid aluminum bellcrank set for one with the built in servo saver. As I got faster, and got the proper gripping tires, I got severe tire wobble around the fast sweeping turns. I upgraded to a Savox titanium geared servo and shimmed and eventually glued solid, the servo saver. It was better, but installing the aluminum bellcranks with no saver solved the problem completely. I use a plastic servo horn that will strip the splines before it busts the Ti gears in my servo in case of a hard hit, but I can tell you that this setup can take some abuse. There is a reason the factory team edition has this setup and the rtr version has a servo saver-----bashers and new drivers need breakage protection, racers who want to go fast on high grip tracks need a solid steering setup.

I just bought a used Savox 1258TG black edition used (supposidly for one race) from a trusted guy at the track. Do Savox always make the staticky sounds when they are on? I kind of think that is normal with the newer servos, my cheap Reedy servo does but the sound is very different from the Savox. Anyone else have experience with Savox know if that is normal?

I have a savox servo I purchased from a guy on this forum. Don't know how old it is but it seems to work fine, but as you said, it's noisy. it may be how these digital servos are, maybe it's a savox trait.

The only servos I have are Savox (5 of them,1251MG's) paired with Futaba receivers. No problems, no funny noises. When the battery gets low it will get that "staticky" sound. In some cases, you might try using a glitch buster cap, plugged into an open channel on your rx.

My Savox 1258 TG has always made the same noise since the day it was new, similar to what you describe. I've noticed other cars at the track using the same servo have the same noise. As far as I know or have been told, this is normal. Mine has never glitched and performance has been perfect. I have always suspected the noise could originate from the receiver, but that is pure speculation. I use an older DSM Spektrum receiver.

It is definitely a static sound and definitely coming from the servo. Functions perfectly though, and very fast compared to the Reedy I replaced. Can’t hear it from the racers stand lol! Thanks for the feedback guys.

The noise definitely comes from the servo. I meant the cause of the noise may be the type or quality of the signal coming from the receiver. Like I said pure speculation. I plan on upgrading my radio soon and I'm curious to see if it still exists with a more modern receiver. I agree--- can't hear it from the drivers stand! They sure do perform better than anything else I've ever used.

The digital servos I think have a much higher resolution of steps, so the noise I think is from jitter in the signal. Small variations cause the servo to make miniscule corrections and cause the buzziness.

I thought my Spektrum s6240 servo was an oddity. It rattles too, since it was new! An old friend who has been racing for 30+ years says it's very uncommon.
I have tried it on an older Novak ESC and now on a new Reedy ESC. Same results. Analog Futaba is as steady as ever on both ESC's.
Had a cap on both setups as well. Still scratching my head. Guess I should send it in??

I took my time before sending my S6240 Spektrum in for warranty but a mere 3 weeks after sending it in I got it back.
No more rattles!!! Horizon sent me a new servo. I haven't even put the cap back on the receiver yet. Works great.
