Erich has always aimed to schedule this race around the same weekend in September. The weather has always been excellent on this particular time frame. I would go out on a limb and say it would be September 12-14, 2014.

Under the current rules, would a Hawk 2 run in 2wd stadium or Heavy Metal?

I would think the Hawk 2 would most likely fit in the stadium truck class since it has the typical layout of a racing chassis. Something like the Sledgehammer would belong in heavy metal. Of course that would ultimately be Erich's call.

Okay, thanks. The only reason I was unsure is that the Hawk 2 came from the factory with a high mounted pickup body, much more like a Stampede body than a stadium truck body. It also has direct steering, a definite disadvantage.
I bet I'll have the only Hawk 2 there, anyway. I haven't seen much vintage Traxxas at vonats.

it's a gray area. there's an mrc mt10 that wins that class every year, it's a staduim truck with a high mounted body.
then again my classics entry this year, a stadium blitzer, was almost put in heavy metal, and it's lower then most stadium trucks.

Yup, I've seen the MRC. Really cool car. When I first saw it driving all I could really see was the rear arms/transmission and I thought it was a Rustler!
Maybe I can run both classes with the same car.
Is Melvins army going to bring his Clodbuster?

Any confirmation on the date of the 2014 VONATS or is it still too early to know?

Good question, this local hasn't raced since February.
Last time I raced the m4 suburbs were the hot ticket.

Is it an indoor track?

And will my highly modified OIN be allowed to still race?

If not I have a classic on the bench.

Yes it's an indoor track, fully stocked shop, and yes your old is new is fine for 2wd.

Interesting...

I'm curious why we're going back indoors for VONATS this year. I thought the outdoor events at Bethel were a pretty good setting.

Howdy,

I really want to hit the VONATs.... What's the deal with hop-ups? How far from bone stock can a 1991 2wd buggy go before it's not cool? Need a date so I can lock it up. Just buy the ticket and commit..........

Super Interested in Oregon,

Mark
Hope you're doin' something fun.
