I talked to Don Jones last Sunday, he still has his 2WD Mod winning car in his basement. He said it was built off a piece of graphite with a kickup. Rc10 short arm parts on the front, rear trailing arms, Kyosho shocks. He told me he almost let Mike Giem run the car, as it was so good, but decided to race it himself.
I told him to take some pictures so guys can get a good look at it, maybe he will.

That would be awesome, I'd definitely like to see photos of it.

I'd love to get my hands on that car and have a look!!!
As a kid growing up in the southwest suburbs it was a big deal to me if I could get my Dad to drive me to JOROCC or the Thunderdome to practice or race. On days that Jim Dieter and the crew showed up I'd always try to sneak a peak at all the tricked out stuff they were working on and racing. I built my own 'Dieterbuilt' and raced it a few years after those Nats, always dreamed of getting my hands on one of their Schumacher Cats as well.
Those guys and their cars were legendary, it was a good time to be a kid fawning over those cars both in real life and in the pages of RCCA. Good memories for sure...
These scans came from a book each driver received at the drivers meeting. It was mostly ads and the ROAR rules for 1/10 scale off road. Here are just a few pages from the book.

Yeah that was a seriously long race. 650 entries. 3 classes. and you could only enter 2.
Anyone else hear this? It might be old news and if so, delete post. I don't race so I don't always hear the latest. Just read(red) this though. It would be pretty cool. :D
Seems ROAR has made a couple giant strides in the right direction. Word...

Danica was pushed into the wall at Florida last weekend... Wow was she mad!! But professional about it. When you peak you win, right?
I truly miss the early days when the cars were hand finished. The sense of accomplishment was what made the hobby really fun. And I'm talking about 1980.
The Executive Committee would like to start by thanking all the affiliate...

Fuel On Road 1/8th Nationals had been scheduled the weekend prior, but the sanctioning body felt that too many A-main drivers would be lost to the second annual VONats.....
Thats pretty funny seeing that article again. I was pretty happy winning that Stock Nationals. Almost made the Mod A also. Missed by less than a sec if I remember right. The year before I was in the Q in mod and the R in Stock at Antioch.
