Scr8p's Worlds Re-re / 91 Worlds Conversion

Post by scr8p »

I traded a fellow member my unbuilt classic kit for this. Not totally sure on a direction, up in the air if I want to leave the chassis parts black or send them out to ano a different color.

I was going to throw the trans together to see what all the talk was about, but they packaged 2 idlers and no diff gear.

If you decide to go "salmon" on the chassis I'll trade you!
(The Pb-10 will be done in a few days, btw. I'll post an update then.)
I look forward to seeing what you do with this.
. . . you have Associated Green Slime for brains. And not even new Green Slime, but old gooped out Green Slime.

Alright, its a roller. But as you can see, there's no trans. Top shaft issues, hobbytown doesn't have one in stock so it's gonna have to wait.

I figured I would just build it, then change stuff later on. I need to pick up a pair of rulux fronts and dye them black to go with the 1/16 e-revo rulux rears i'm using on the back.

Besides the known issues with the topshaft, what are your impressions? It looks good!

i think i got more enjoyment from building the classic. i mean, this worlds car is really no different than the stuff members have been building for years. wide front axles, modern shocks, upgraded trans. granted, a 6 gear gold tub is like a belly button, everybody got one. but even though they get boring to look at, it's nice to build a stock short arm car.

now, the trans issues may have helped with the lack of enjoyment. but i also had a problem with one of the cva's. the collar that slides into the bone was either too long or the cup part of the axle wasn't machined properly. when you would spin it, if the bone wasn't basically inline with the axle, it would bind up. i ended up grinding the sides of the collar a little bit and it fixed the problem.

there's some other things that weren't really "problems", but some of the plastic could've been a little "tighter". there is quite a bit of play at the rear arm/arm mount. it's nothing a washer couldn't fix, the front arms were better. i get it though, they need to take out the stuff that i like (massaging parts, etc.) and make it easy for people to build so they don't cry.

i do plan on changing stuff down the road. i want to grab some white rere shock parts to change the spring cups and rod ends (like the original), titanium turnbuckles and some other stuff. still up in the air about an ano color change.

Looking good! If the member you got the kit from is willing to share the original receipt, you can get that top shaft and the axle piece(s) from Associated. All it took to get my replacement parts was an email and a copy of the receipt. I had the parts in just a couple of days.

i sent ae an email about it, all they wanted was a couple pics of the car unbuilt (which i had, as well as progress pics of the build minus the trans) just for proof. so i'll have the stuff in a little bit.

i just figured if hobbytown had one in stock i'd have the new shaft in 10 minutes.

Here in France we can't have replacement top shaft, I had to hack a tamiya tool.

And of course drill a bigger hole in the case.
