RC10 Classic back in stock temporarily... interesting

Post by strangersinspace »

Anyone else notice this on Associated's website? They have some RC10 Classic's back in stock "temporarily".

"After literally circling the globe, with a layover in Europe and major negotiating (aka begging) by our Sales Manager for the opportunity to buy these back, a small quantity of the RC10 Classic kits have returned to Team Associated. Limited to quantities on hand. Get yours now before they are gone forever!"

Priced at $399. Ouch!

Interesting, to buy them back, pay shipping, and then sell again.
I was old school - when old school wasn't cool !

Very odd indeed. Perhaps they were just looking for additional revenue for their web store, but I have to wonder if the re-re project was less successful financially than expected.

Yeah, the idea that they were "begging" to get these cars back from dealers is just so strange. What motivation would they have for wanting them back? Maybe they just wanted to mark them way up and sell on the webstore... but that seems like a lot of effort to make a few hundred bucks on what sounds like a small number of kits.

If the price wasn't ridiculous, I'd be tempted to buy one. Never bought one the first time around but pulled the trigger on the World's re-re.... woulda, coulda, shoulda kind of thing....

knowing how difficult it is to ship some items to europe these days, it is certainly possible that a shipment was held in customs and never made it to a destination, and then associated had to negotiate a buy back.

who knows......

and they still had some a year ago;

so maybe the "buy back story" is just a marketing line?

I'm guessing that "limit 1 per customer" restriction no longer applies. :wink:
