Well, it's only gonna run this one race weekend and then live out it's life on the shelf. Whatever it looks like afterwards, so be it.

I am having second thoughts about using it though. Before I had the idea for this build, my plan was to complete a B1.5 project that I had hoped to use at the 2016 race but knew I wasn't gonna make it. So the project has sat idle. But when A-main Hobbies was blowing out Worlds kits before Christmas for $150, I figured I might as well use one of those. It would cost me a lot less money in the long run. Other than getting some titanium turnbuckles, better ball cups and bearings for the bellcrank, I could run it straight out of the box. Obviously I'm not doing that  , but the total cost to build it will still be quite a bit less than the B1.5 would cost.

All that being said, I still kinda want to build up the B1.5 to run this year.

That is a very cool blue look, nice combo. I assume you can get anodizing in gun metal?

Got the chassis pretty much buttoned up last night. This morning I trimmed and mounted the body, did some running around, and finished up the electronics tonight. Besides painting the body and some other little things, it's basically ready for the Vonats in September.

Scrap

Couple of questions:

What battery brace have you used?

Do you still plan to copy Satoshi Maezumi's paint scheme and will you dye the wheels too?

To be honest, they really aren't all that much different than the tires on the car I'm sorta replicating. It's not like going from Flat Stubbies to the Dirt Webs. But those were a very popular tire at the race last year. I'm not gluing them up until closer to the race though.

The battery strap is a B4 factory team piece.

Yeah, the body is getting painted like his. Actually doing it today, though i really don't feel like it. I was more into it yesterday, now the body is all taped up and ready to go so I can't let it sit around and watch the tape let go from the corners.

The wheels will be getting yellow wheel dots like he ran. That's really the biggest reason for using the traxxas rear wheels. They have a nice flat surface to stick them too and I won't have to worry about removing them every time I want to take the wheels off.

Shot some paint on the body, didn't turn out too bad. Pretty close to the original.
