Vote for 10th Scale Body

Post by mytimac »

As you probably saw, we have the thermoformer up and running now.

So we are opening up to vote for next bodies to be made. I want to run some that haven't been run yet.
So here are your choices.

Sorry mate, nothing there is talking to me. What I'd really like to see is an RC10 buggy body that's made for the A&L/Factory Works Trailing Arm conversion

I'd vote for two if I could, the Funco RC10 and Intrepid GTP.

Edit: I should have read the poll first  you may select up to two votes

I didn't see that either!!!!

Not really surprising seeing the results so far... it is RC10Talk, so the RC10 body takes an early lead. It's a bit like the photo competitions on TamiyaClub, almost always won by a Sand Scorcher / SRB, and/or something with Wild Willy in it. It's what the people want, it's what the people get... democracy and all that

Personally I voted for the Merkur... and if I'd realised I could vote twice, would have dropped a vote in the Greenwood Corvette corner  .

Big thanks to mytimac for giving us the opportunity to select, though.... great idea, and much appreciated! :D

I feel the "tamiya" funco needs some publicity.
It's a very nicely proportioned and detailed body you can easily adapt to many models. Most of you probably know the first ever rc10 prototype pics were published with a funco body.
Here's a picture of one (from mr_lexans days) I mounted on a one-off build.

Yeah a lot of the Funco bodies work on many models.
Bolink listed pretty much all of them work with the RC10, Tamiya Grasshopper, Hornet, Frog, and Fox. Also works with Pro 110. You just need the the appropriate length body posts for each.

I love the Vette... but what are dimensions please? 10th? 12th? DS?

Is the F150 a good fit on a 10T?

All pretty bodies anyway!

Uh... 10th Scale :)
But more accurately 9" wide in the wheel wells but length for wheel base is some place between 10-12" There is no real defined opening for rear wheels so there is space to adjust as needed. In this old Bolink picture it looks to be about 10.5" from front to rear wheel centers. Based off the mold.

Don't know that there would be front shock tower clearance on DS. Someone else would have to answer that one.

The Vette body would be awesome...

I would want something like that for my DS. Not sure how the front tower would fit... if the nose hub was slightly more forward and pronounced, you might be ok. Tough without a good side on picture of the front half...

Ran the Funco SS2A yesterday. Went through 20 pulls, think we got about 8 good ones and 8 discount ones. Then 4 that went to the scrap pile.
Interesting learning experience. Ran into same chill mark issues on the sharp edges in the back tower area. We had same issue at the first plant during a test run. We know there is no easy way around it with our current equipment. At the first plant it was going to up the price per part another 2 bucks to try and fix it. Having seen some of the old Associated and Losi truck bodies that have the same issue, I bet the original bodies of these had same chill marks. Seriously doubt they had the equipment to get around it back then. Will get the final pictures posted after we get them trimmed.

For fun check out our first sheet we ever ran on the machine about 2 weeks ago. Smashing success!
