Just started going over it, pretty neat. Came from an ex-Jomac team driver. Features factory drilled wheels, graphite diff axle, lightweight spur gear, Novak Bantam Midget servos with factory black cases, 1200SC batteries (still good), Parma flat resistor, etc. Also included were boxes of spares, manuals, a Jomac charger, FP2TF "brown box" radio with dual-rate steering pot mod (a common modification at the time), and so much more. The Schkee Lola body has been modified as per the instructions to bring the sides in behind the front wheels. Another bit of 1/12th history here. Ralph Burch jr. won the 1981 ROAR 1/12th Nats with this type of car.

I'm over the edge on these stupid 1/12th cars...

I'll put up some more pics when I get all the misc bits sorted out.

I think it is sweet, but I am a sucker for 12th scale myself. Nice one.

Nice find there, very cutting edge for the time. Imagine the poor person who's job was to make the wheels and spur into lightweight versions. Regarding race results a Lightning 2000 finished second at the 1980 Euro champs, only beaten by one of the folded lexan cars that were designed specifically for running on polished wood floors.

I don't exactly know what it is, must be the elegant simplicity. A bit of flexy plank with electrics and wheels, fine tuned to be a slot car with steering... and every manufacturer (and builder) put their own personal touches to the design making them all interesting.

OK, who's got an AE (or Bolink, or Leisure, or...?) "Group 12" spec car? I've got the 1980 catalog listing from Associated.

Darryn, I look forward to good news!

What is the AE spec car? Or what parts make it up?

It was another of those failed spec class deals. The majority of the parts were interchangeable with other makes. I'll try to photo the list today, I've no scanner.

I was crushed that I didn't bid enough to get this:

Group 12 was a spec class produced as a joint venture between JoMac, Associated, Bolink and Parma, who all contributed parts to the kits and the car could be bought from any of the four manufacturers. Jerobee chassis, Associated wheels and rear axle, Bolink tyres and body, Parma speed controller.
