Optima Tires......
Optima Tires......
All - in light of recent prices on EBAY for NIP original OT-30 optima tires (unbelievable! ), I have decided that I will keep the ones that came with my NIB kit unused for the shelf and try to source some cheap alternatives should I decide to run the car.
Can anyone, therefore, recommend some readily (or at least more readily) available tires which fit the original optima rims? I'm looking for full width 4wd spiked tires.....
Thanks in advance.

Re: Optima Tires......
well, 1.6 tires fit, so you should be able to find some RC10 rear Tires, not readily available per say, but cheaper than $132 lol
i dont think there are any 1.6 tires readily available, unless from tamiya re're's like the frog/buggy champs etc, those are 1.5 but should fit

Any suggestions, Chris, as to what rims/tires would fit (my knowledge is somewhat limited when it comes to Kyosho)? I'd really like some 5-spoke tires like these perhaps: http://www.tamiyaclub.com/trades_model.asp?cid=85782), but iwould be nterested to know about any other viable alternatives...

Re: Optima Tires......
I am pretty certain those are HPI 3033 Super Star Wheel 57x35mm...based on those sizes 2.2 tires should fit on them but am uncertain of the offset (looks ok however).
I am pretty hazy with my Kyosho stuff but I think you would find the rims from Optima-Turbo Optima-Optima Mid and rear Ultimas are compatible in offset....they are however in 2 inch sizes (use CAT tires). You could try looking for Trinity wheels to fit 2.2 tires (can't remember the part number)

Re: Optima Tires......
erh, no
The Lohas are 2.2 inch, but yes you could fit those rims to your optima fur sure and with their adjustable offset they'd be a great choice.

What about these: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&W=000308206&I=TAMC3000&P=K
I read somewhere that they would fit my old Turbo Ultima wheels. But i am not 100% sure.

Re: Optima Tires......
You are going to run those alloy rims?
Finding tires are not the issue but rims to suit would be.

Re: Optima Tires......
The wheels and tires off of these vehicles should work?

Re: Optima Tires......
I run Lazer ZXR/ZX5 rims. They are 2.2inch and allow me to used modern tyres to suit track conditions.

Re: Optima Tires......
I think the offset on these 2 is too small for the front: probably causing interference between the rim and steering knucle.Brandon G wrote:The wheels and tires off of these vehicles should work?

The original ZX5 front rims are set out further and work indeed.
Re: Optima Tires......
Thanks, Bormac. Do you have a link to the wheels you are referring too (my Kyosho knowledge is very limited, I'm afraid)?bormac wrote:I run Lazer ZXR/ZX5 rims. They are 2.2inch and allow me to used modern tyres to suit track conditions.
