Recommendation on a good cheap ESC for RC10T project

Hey all,

I'm trying to get an RC10T4 running from a bunch of parts I got in a garage sale. Before I spend a bunch of money on a brushless setup, gears, diff upgrade, CVDs etc. I just want to get it running. Unfortunately while trying to setup the throttle controls on the Novak XRS that came with this stuff, I pushed too hard on the Set button and mashed it down (or the spring failed). Of course this was after I finished expertly soldering all new connectors and cleaning up all the wiring and mounting the ESC!

Anyway, can someone recommend a cheap and widely available ESC that will work with the collection of 15T and up brushed motors I received with this truck? I'm completely new to this hobby, so learning as I go. I have a "HPI SC-15" that also came with this pile of parts, but I don't see a set button on it, and not sure if its worth the trouble to solder up a new set of connectors, etc.

new school? pretty much any recent novak/LRP/KO speedo...

If the HPI doesn't have the on/off switch you won't be able to program it. The set-up button is on the on/off switch.

I'd say Novak Rooster or Super Rooster, it's my favorite brushed ESC

You said "brushless" in your last sentence, and you want economical...I'd suggest you pick up an EZRun or Leopard ESC for unsensored BL motors. 30A or 60A should be more than sufficient, and those ESCs are cheap.

I'm using this one in a modded Optima Mid project, it's quiet and drives really smooth. (I got it with the 12T motor & programming card combo, though.)

Associated has cheap speed controls (LRP) available on their web site. See the web specials link on their site.

or check ebay, you can find a brushless set up from speed passion motor and ESC
