RC12L Rear Hub question

Post by rraeford »

I have an RC12L that is missing the rear diff hub. I see original examples for sale on eBay but they have the two hole wheel mounts. My question is: can I swap out the RC12L hub with one for an 12l4 or are they too different?

the old 12L is using a 2 holes hub to mount the rim, while the modern 12L4 / 12R are using 3 holes hub. They are totally different and not inter-changeable.

Thanks. I've done a bit of homework since posting this question. The 12l diff hub isn't drilled. The diff-side wheel is held in place via friction fit. The hub on the other side can be replaced with a friction fit hub so that it can accept newer 3 hole wheels. Of course, until I take all of the parts off of my other cars and test it, this is all theory...

I got it to work in the past, but you have to swap everything including axle, rings and both hubs.
