HPI 200mm Mustang Saleen body #7428

HPI 190mm Mustang Saleen Body #7328

As far as locating a couple of them?....may the force be with you. They've been discontinued for a while.

I managed to get one for a DS after over a year of looking and the decals were not in the best of shape.

knucklebuster wrote:Thanks Lobo. I like the body too. I special ordered a manual black on black 2000 GT with all options deleted (except ac). I tried to delete the rear spoiler too but the Ford dealer said that was not possible. I asked the dealer to swap the rear truck lid for the LX trunk lid, not possible. I immediately removed the spoiler and plugged the holes with plastic interior buttons. A year later Ford introduced the "Bullitt" edition without the rear spoiler
HEy knucklebuster...my apologies, somehow I missed this post. I even got the parts numbers for the other guy Bong and still missed it.

its just now I went back to check out your pics once again (i liked the paint job a lot) and I read what happened with your mustang

Dude...you had the idea  and dealer wouldn't accommodate  ...why not just swap the rear like you suggested :?: Well at least you started a trend

Lobo, I picked up the DS and body from Russ Winn. I assume he did the paint. I only paint one color jobs, usually black

I checked junk yards for a couple of months looking for a black trunk. I couldn't bring myself to pay for paintwork on a trunk that didn't need replacing in the first place. I ended up sticking with the plastic plugs siliconed in place.

I thought it odd that a special order vehicle could not have the rear spoiler removed. I can only assume Ford wanted the GT to stand apart from the LX. Also, dealers surely knew the Bullitt was en route. The Bullitt was a higher priced GT without a spoiler

 i hear you on the one color paint jobs as you cant go wrong. I usually try a few more but only if i know there is a backup body available in case i mess up. however Im not taking the chance with the saleen mustang body. I got the car from BigMD here on the forum and was going to use a challenger body till the mustang popped up in texas.

Totally understand on not paying for a trunk and paintjob...The plug idea was genius. HEy at least you got it the way you wanted it without the extra cost of the GT. i hate when dealers pull a fast one like that.

Hey Bong, I hope you luck out man...but might as well slap a mustang body on it till you do...the HPI 05 mustang is sweet. i took a liking to it once i place one on my NTC3. The wing is black and mounts easily. looks so nice running on the pavement that i purchased another and placed it on a DS.

I'll have to give it another look. I've about given up on a fox body, the new edge bodies hardly come up as well. Once I do find one I'll probably treat it as a shelfer anyway. These bodies are going on runners and it needs to be something I don't mind banging up. Thanks for the recommendation.
