The 1/10 Buggy Wheel Database!
So after much annoyance with manufactures not posting the specs for their wheels I'm starting to populate a list of wheels and their specs myself. Measuring the outside width, and backspacing from the mounting surface to the rear of the wheel along with putting part numbers and links if applicable. This should help greatly if folks are trying to retrofit wheels to different models.
I'm starting with just 1/10 Buggies with whatever wheels I happen to come across in my adventures. You can view the list here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kk7XL1k-6ZtatTT6Djk60KqFATPh154xFTxsGZ-F8Jc/edit?usp=sharing
Note about backspacing. This measurement is taken from the back of the wheel to the surface that the wheel mounts to on the car. Depending on the mount type this could be the Hex face, the Bearing surface, where the pin rests or where the spacer rests on the back of the wheel, whatever the surface is that locates the wheel to the car.

Boy, do I need this.
Would it be worth adding a column for whether the part is active or discontinued? Or do you want to focus on active parts?

Eventually active parts will be discontinued having a column makes sense.

Not a bad idea, I'll add that.

Re: The 1/10 Buggy Wheel Database!
I've added the Fan RC Yokomo YZ10 wheels to the list. These are interesting as I noticed they were a bit harder to seat tires onto then realized that they have a slightly oversized OD so they're actually 2.23in or 56.6mm.
Consistency is the key I keep misplacing.

Re: The 1/10 Buggy Wheel Database!
That's a great idea, and it would be great to have a similar database for tires...
That being said suggestions (this could be very usefull when looking for correspondances):
- add a column for scale : it would be great also to have that for 1/8, 1/12, ...
- add a column for type: Buggy, Trucks, Monster Truck, On Road, ...
- add a column for mount diameter : some rare cars have a very different mounts type (17mm hex, with a big diameter for the axle - and I'm speaking about a 1/10 here : Mugen Mercury 4Xi for example).
It would be great to put the list in a google spreadsheet, using a google form to feed it, with a link to the google form right here

Re: The 1/10 Buggy Wheel Database!
I'll eventually have separate tabs for different scales. As for as mount diameter, I'll include that info if it's not of the normal standard. Granted this won't be all encompassing since I only have access to a limited amount of wheels.silvertriple wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2024 4:58 pm That's a great idea, and it would be great to have a similar database for tires...

This is actually a google sheet, just the forum automatically embedded it on the first post. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kk7XL1k-6ZtatTT6Djk60KqFATPh154xFTxsGZ-F8Jc/edit?usp=sharing
Good idea on the google form. I might do that later to get more people on board measuring along with details on how the measurements are to be taken.

Wondered across this while searching for other cool things... from the December 1990 issue of RCCA... no backspacing info, but has wheels weights, should your graph need another column

Re: The 1/10 Buggy Wheel Database!
Since I know you own both, how are these on the FR01? I was going to run simple B4 wheels, but I don't like the narrow backspacing, and actually have to move rear shocks inward a hole. I like my CE wheels that I have on there, but they are too pristine to beat up.
I build RCs like people would have done back in the '90s ..................................... if they had 3D printers.

And also good idea adding weights might be on my to do list.Dangeruss wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 12:18 am Wondered across this while searching for other cool things... from the December 1990 issue of RCCA... no backspacing info, but has wheels weights, should your graph need another column

The FR01 doesn't come with any wheels and I would need adapters to run YZ10 wheels on it. Fitment would really depend on the adapters used. Currently I'm running the Kyosho Turbo Scorpion wheels, track width is roughly 138mm front and 143mm rear with those on it.morrisey0 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 1:17 pmSince I know you own both, how are these on the FR01? Thanks for putting the time into this reference! Just today, I needed to see what was out there, and their specifics, and this helped me out greatly!!
