... Easy.... Order 2.... Build one and hammer it... Take 2nd one and leave
on shelf....then sell at profit later or at the least recoup your money....I have 2
on order... Thinking of adding a 3rd....

I think you guys are right about the limited numbers being produced. As in they are just waiting to see our reaction and will make as many as we will buy. I don't want one to save away somewhere I want to drive it. Don't care about the collectors market on this buggy. Lets see a resurgence of RC10 vintage buggy racing/bashing. Lets drive!

Well just preordered from Tower...we'll see how it goes. Would've have ordered another but this paycheck I have to pay some money for credits in the attempt to be promoted...silly modern day military. AGH.

As I said before I think the "Limited" wording was only mentioned to get you guys panic buying in bulk. AE themselves did not give a number so they can make a million if they want. Hopefully they will make a ton to keep everyone happy and the flippers away.

I'm over in the UK and their is talk about getting a small series up for them, talk is that the cars will have to be standard with control tyres and electrics. I like the sound of the idea, but I want to relive my first time around, which means chopping the chassis about and a few subtle mods which fitted in with those early days.

Then when they re-release a CE, I can go through the whole process again :D

So, are we assuming the bearings are going to be the same sizes as the originals? Or should I wait for the specs before ordering?

I agree, or at least I hope this is true. With the keen eye of the collectors, and AE saying they plan small intentional changes to differentiate the re-release, I don't see this taking away from the value of the original RC10's. It will give the less serious collectors a way to enjoy the nostalgia of one of the most (the most?) significant RC cars of all time though, and maybe even find a few others to race against again. There are already the originals for people who want something rare and collectible... the new one can be for the rest of us who just think the old aluminum tub RC10's are really cool cars.

I've seen and posted in that thread on oOple.com, disappointingly the idea doesn't appear to be attracting that much interest.

Also to add: "Limited" may also refer to time, rather than quantity sold. ie, Perhaps sell as many re-re's as they possibly can for one full celebration year (of the RC10's 30th year), or two full years if it is to also include AE's 50th birthday celebration year afterwards as well. Which would explain why no numbers have been stated directly by AE. Either way, no sane business person will be turning down making a fortune out of this opportunity. Not unless they want to get fired for business incompetence. AE are not a charity afterall

im gonna wait to see the specs before I buy bearings since they said that the 6 gear trans has some updates for reliability so that may mean different specs on bearings for outdrives and maybe other areas of the buggy. as far as ordering a second or a third....im scrapping together the dough just for the one that I pre ordered....hoping I have enough since explaining $259.98 to the wife after it comes out of the checking account would be fun so im padding my paypal account with some money at the moment

I sure hope the bearing sizes are the same since I ordered 2 sets of original gold pan bearing kits.

There's this little forum you might know of, tamiyaclub.com, with nearly 39,000 members and almost 300 currently logged in...compared with here, 3656 total membership, 33 currently logged in, and 208 members was the most EVER logged in at one time. That should pretty much sum things up. ;)It turns out my 10 to 1 ratio was actually pretty accurate, if forum numbers are any indication. That said, quality always trumps quantity. I'm not a Tamiya fan-boy, that's for certain. :P

Exactly. I've always respected the race-bred cars like RC10s, YZ-10s, etc since the 80's but those cars were marketed to the minority (that being racers) which most of us were/are not. I never even considered getting one of those cars as a teenager back in the 80's because of that and stuck with the plastic fantastic kits primarily from Tamiya.

Contrastly, Tamiya cars were marketed towards the majority (that being backyard bashers) and therefore appealed to a much bigger audience and it continues today. It's no wonder why re-re Tamiya kits are flying off the shelf and Tamiyaclub.com dwarfs RC10talk.com and probably most other r/c blog sites in terms of popularity and membership. That said, I have since become a big fan of cars like the YZ-10 (got one about a year ago) as well as the RC-10 (have a re-re pre-ordered :D ) and think this site is really cool because it offers a little different perspective than Tamiyaclub.

LOL...glad I'm not the only one doing that to avoid having to explain the checking account deduction to the wife. Paypal is my last financial sanctuary.

Agreed. I bit and pre-ordered one re-re but would never fall for marketing terms like "limited re-issue" and buy more than one to stock up. Even after pre-ordering, I'm still contemplating cancelling the order and getting a used original since the prices are similar (decent, used originals are selling on Ebay for $200-$300 in most cases, re-re = $250). My intention is to run it and think the re-re makes more sense for somebody like me (i.e not a hardcore shelf-queen collector but rather somebody who likes to run most of his models). However, I like the idea of running an original but might be less inclined to do so once I actually set eyes on it. I have such problems. :)

...that's what I want to know.....been ordering cheap bearings from avidrc.com and they have held up fine in my 1/8 on road cars...
