Thought I would update this build. I wasn't happy with the messed up threads on the axle so I thought, "Hey, I'll take another crack at it" and make a new one.
I took some carbon rod and carefully drilled and tapped one end with a simple drill press jig I had made. I took an old 1" Associated aluminum screw and cut the head off to make the 8/32 stud.
Then used JB plastic epoxy to coat inside the rod and threads and let it set up a bit then screwed into the rod. After letting it cure for a week, I tested and is solid. Installed into the car and centered everything up.
Found a suitable main rear shock and made some Nerf wings and new front bumper. Wired up the ESC and motor. Almost done with this project but will add a few more things before calling it finished
