Graphite is stiffer and lighter than aluminum, less flex, not more.

Interesting…i would have thought a flat slab of graphite would have significantly more flex than a closed aluminum tub. Regardless i’m considering to pull the trigger on this kit as a club level racer.

While the tub design is technically better supported from a design perspective the aluminum used is quite thin. There's also the fact that if you take a bad hit the aluminum is way more likely to get deformed and stay that way. It's pretty hard to break a Graphite chassis, unless you're running metal suspension arms and bulkheads or something.

I couldn't tell you how they compare. I've never had a tub chassis but I can tell you the graphite chassis is pretty stiff.

Anyone know if FanRC shock caps will fit the smaller diameter AE RC10 shock bodies (pre-12mm shocks)?

It's my understanding that the Fan caps are not compatible with AE bodies.

Hi guys had my Fan Rc for a little while now and as parts are available to me local its great its a flyer.. but the draw to use it as a 4wd build is niggling me... lol

I'm sure somebody on here is doing a ten4.1 on a Fan but crap i can't find it.. If it is doable I don't think i can use the fan stealth trany from what I've read.. so stuffed really my other two are 6 gear and don't really want to mess with them anyway.. Where the heck can I get a stealth AE trans in the UK ? unless I pick up a Team Car when out? GGrrr

I think i read somewhere also that the fanrc stealth was being fixed gear wise.

I just converted one myself, here is the way I recommend:
remove the fan gearbox, put the diff in the front (its the correct width)
source a modern rere stealth (the diff is narrower by just a tad, so you need the box and the diff) (you can use an old stealth also, but not the rere worlds or fanrc since his is a copy of that one)
you can reuse the rest of the fan gearbox (bearings, top shaft etc)
you will want the new drill template and spacer for the fanrc chassis https://factoryworks.com/shop/ols/products/frcadapter

Oh man that conversion looks sweet! That might be where my FR-01 is heading at some point. For now though for me it needs to be as much like the original as possible. It's filing a void. However, I did ask Santa for the new team car. So maybe with that and if the graphite chassis is re released I'll be ready to convert it. I literally check AE"s website just about every day hoping to see some new vintage stuff. Then I saw this new team car and at first was disappointed it wasn't the graphite but then thought about it and realized it's the perfect next car. And I got to thinking AE has got to offer parts for these things right? They know we want to race them. Or at least know people are willing to get them dirty. I would imagine they have to at some point sell the stealth tranny again. Hell you can already buy most of the parts individually. And if it's not a full kit there will be part numbers you could look up and order right? Am I crazy for thinking this? Or I guess nieve is the right word. Am I just hoping this will be true so I can restore my original rc10? Anyway, I will have to burn this in my memory so that I know where to look back and find those details when it comes time to go 4wd. Do you run yours? If it goes half as good as it looks it'll rip.
