The manifold flange is square, the manifold screw is a button head phillips, the left rear arm mount is tapered on the front much like the right to clear the spur gear, this must be pre production! The rear hub is more like the original rc10 with a 1/4x4-40 nut on the ball stud. The rear hub must also be a prototype or they used 1/4x3/8 flanged bearings on a old hub.
Not that it matters to your build Todd, but while going through a #7001 truck manual, I noticed the rear hubs. They are the original RC10 type as well, and never used in a production kit. Just thought I'd add that

I went through every GT instruction book I have looking for the same thing regarding the rear hubs on the GT box truck. Going through the instructions looking at the pictures it's clear they either were using multiple trucks or using several different parts in between steps as they are not consistent. Parts will change back and forth. But I could not find where they used the old hubs anywhere in the manual. Best I can think of is the box truck was the first built prototype truck and turned into the manual truck using production parts as they were being refined.

Restored broken photo links.

I'm on the trail to a NIP tuned pipe. Just a waiting game.

what pipe you looking for? The one in the pix isn't what you want?

Todd

The pipe on the truck is the correct part. But it's the only part that's not new. It was pulled from a Serpent Impact so it has a little road rash too. Never thought one part would be so hard to track down.

Sweet! 8)

Having any extras made?

I've seriously considered the plausibility of making a replica pipe. I have access to tigs, but would need a lot of practice before I could do it justice. Aside from the welding it wouldn't be super difficult.

Ive considered emailing O'Donnell to ask if they would do a copy, just never got around to it.

I've met a fellow collector who "has multiple pipes". Just has to dig and find them. Just hope it pans out. The last time someone said they had one it never happened

Do you know what paint colors were used to paint the Box Art?

Wish I could help. Might be able to get ahold of "vintagemishal". He is the one who painted the body for me. He might remember the colors.

Or.... there's a guy on eBay who does a really good job painting a box art GT body. He might share the colors or maybe just buy one finished if you don't want to paint.

Thanks Romulus, this thread gave me the motivation to dust off my old rc collection. ( And rejoin this forum)
I alway had a soft spot for the Gt, none of mine are quite as nice as yours though. Maybe I'll do a rebuild thread of my own. Lol.

There's new one on ebay, hopefully it's the same pipe as for your box art project. :D

Thanks for the lookout. Unfortunately it isn't the correct pipe to match the box. And I already have a few of those NIP. If it were half the price I'd probably be owning that one too

Stumbled on this really good picture of the original truck with slightly different sticker usage. Pretty sure I've seen this used in ads and magazine articles.
