Adding weight, yes.

Adding more dampening is not needed. As you have stated.

Aerodynamics come into play with shocks set up like that. (up front with more resistance, regardless of weight.)

I am no expert, but having the smoothest cleanest line up front is critical. Use some lead if you have to. You can always move it around, or remove it.

Check Clodtalk.com for one of Andys speed builds he did. you will find some tips there for sure.

I don't need the height gained from the second spring but I think more dampening at such high speeds might possibly add some more stability. I figured to really help that the new shocks need to be attached to some other location besides the arm (like the steering or even the camber links) so it can actually remove some slop. I attached the old RTR shocks with no springs to the outer hub. I'll see if it has any affect on the stability. I am leaving the steering stabilizers off for now. I only like to make one change at a time.

After mounting I am confident that it will not have much affect on aerodynamics.

New front end is not lexan so I can't bend it.

Let's go with a simple wedge this time. Also, the 10b arms left my front nose too low. The t4/GT2 arms too high, so I cut the nubs off a pair of old Gt2 arms and redrilled holes for the lower shock end. This is IT. Perfectly level front to rear with the suspension adjusted evenly on each corner.

The steering DR is down to 18%. This car has never been so stable.

I've worked out all the bugs, she drives straight and handles good. GT1 transmission installed and solid, 35/54 gearing, RTV locked diff, 78% throttle, 84mph. I am being limited by my test road/range. I am now looking for a much wider area to test in so I can grab the trigger and let this thing boogie. With a 15 foot wide road any mistake has the car sliding into the dirt.

That is one positivly insane car!

I don't know how well google will translate this, but there is some nice info on FM (35MHz) vs 2.4GHz, in German:

https://www.acteurope.de/html/alles_zu_2_4ghz.html

It seems to me a 75 MHz FM sytem will get you more reliable range.

Great build!

I was just talking with a buddy at work about doing something similar as I happened into a castle setup, and he has an old truck...

I was entertaining the idea to make a custom pan with a long wheelbase, but I'm not sure the drivetrain will take many aggressive launches...

I can’t wait to get started on this again. I got my new tires from Rick at gone bananas in.

I have recently converted a GT2 to a SC10GT-e by lengthening the wheelbase 43mm with a new chassis. I can’t post pics because photobucket is dead and my pics are too large to upload here.

Ok I can get pics to load here if I screenshot them. I’ll have to make another thread about it now.

Got this out today on 3s on my street. Got it to 60. I need to get 2 more good 2s saddle packs. The foam tires really don’t last long.

This car’s high speed rear end manners are horrendous.

Bumps kick the rear end up hard. Any amount of decent steering input sends her sideways at speed even with D/R turned to 10%.

I am going to put on a car body and see if it’s aero or suspension. The way it slams back into the ground after a bump makes me think it has far too much downforce…

I’m so ready

The absolute butt puckeriest part is done. All holes drilled. I used SC10GT mounts.

Unbelievable. The whole time all my problems were aerodynamics.

I honestly don’t know how to get the code v= for YouTube links anymore. It’s purely random if it works when I hit share.
