Yeah, cutting decals can be very time consuming but I always prefer to do it myself anyway. When they are die-cut, they never seem to trim close enough to the edge of the color which leaves this clear border that creates a visible edge that doesn't look so nice.
The decals surrounding the headlights on these Porsche's can be a little tricky to apply. Just take your time and it will look fantastic.

Thanks for the tips and encouragement, I really appreciate that! The pre-cut HPI decals were really good on the '67 Vette body, the Kyosho decals look good too, but that extra clear bit does ruin the scale effect. Just seems with today's tech they could get the pre-cut decals trimmed to the tightest margins.

You aren't kidding about the Tamiya headlights, the VW Bus's were tough also. The heat gun and trimming the first headlight layer with the correct split marks around the outer perimeter, was the only way I could get them to lay flat and be round.



Ran out of steam on the decal trimming for the 911, have to make myself finish those. Another hour on those left to go.

Feels like a long way to go still. Side and rear windows left to trim and install.

Got the side windows done, and the rear window is nearly cut. Wish I was quicker at trimming the decals, but if I rush I ruin them.

Everything is looking good so far.
FWIW, I've found it best to apply decals for only 10 or 20 minutes, go do something else for a while then come back to it.
Taking a break gives my eyes a rest and allows my hands to stop shaking. The window surrounds are especially tedious since there's almost no margin for error.
I've also found it important to remember that this is just a hobby and when it stops being fun, it's time to walk away. That's what I'm doing right now.

It really is a good idea to get up and take a break when sitting for long spells. I wear a magnifier headset for all of this, and that can take a toll.

Those window decals are a chore, so glad to be near done. Going to pick this back up first thing tomorrow, and try to get the rest of the decals completely trimmed.

Got the chassis nearly completed, waiting on a Spektrum 6200A Rx.


Getting really close to being done trimming decals.




The headlights are the toughest decals to get right. Those are coming up soon.


Maybe two hours left on this total, including the Rx and decals.

Got the Rx in, and the chassis is now completed.


Have (12) more decals to trim to complete this, hoping to finish this model entirely today.

This will be a shelf body, going to get another 911 body, and make it the runner.

Need to finish the VW Dual Cab TT-02 next.
