And now my short attention span is back! :D

The $30 coupon covers my state taxes ($28.xx), so that part is cleared. Amain has free shipping over $100, so that is a wash. I had a $50 GC, so that applied. Then redeemed $10 in points. So, $395.XX shipped. Then went with PayPal 4-payments, so $98.XX over the next four months. That is livable.

After a lot of thought, not buying the new RC10 4wd. I have the Factory Works 4wd car and love the machined parts on it. Now, when the MIP 4wd re-re arrives, I’m still very interested.

Me too! One thing is guaranteed with MIP, it's gonna be made in the USA. That is not optional with Eustace

GoMachV wrote: Mon Feb 24, 2025 5:50 pm I most certainly can always make another run, but you cant beat the price of the new kit. The thing I had been considering is running more of the aluminum pulleys and maybe the front end parts, tensioner etc. Whatever it is, I need it to be something that will sell or else I have just sunk more money into this for no reason, which is why im really struggling to press on. I have a couple other really killer projects coming up, and this would take money away from them, all to support AE selling kits. I kinda dont want to do that anymore, they dont need me and I dont gain from helping them sell kits.
I’m certainly looking forward to your new projects Jeff

But of course that takes quite a bit of money, and lots more to fight Thunder Tiger in court for patent infringement, and that destroys the whole business case for a small run of bespoke kits. I suppose in decades past the industry was more guided by ethical behavior and collaboration among players (Traxxas excluded).
This was the first thing that crossed my mind when this all unfolded. On one side of the coin, anything you design/invent in which you plan to sell should be patented as you'll have little recourse if another manufacturer steals it. On the other side of the coin, it's likely not financially feasible if you're a small operation. Then even if you do go through all the time, money, and hassle to, good luck fighting it out against a corporations high-powered attorneys if they're the copier as in this case.

Not to fan the flames or anything, but didn't Thinder Tiger go after FanRC (among others) for producing kits similar to their RC10 re-releases? And now TT is copying other people's designs?

Having good patent infringement attorneys is a prerequisite for a Chinese manufacturer. Patent infringement is the backbone of their economy.

With a US patent alone, challenging infringement from a corporation based outside the US becomes extremely difficult if not impossible.

Let's not pretend US companies are saints. Those guys in the video with names we all seem to idolize around here are as AE as it gets and paid by Thunder Tiger too. And they seem perfectly comfortable in that space.

Patents are near impossible, way too expensive for a small company. I don't know if anything RC that was patented besides the hydra drive.

This looks like what I did for my Pro Se rebuild, to adapt TLR 22 knuckles.

Anyone want to make an LXT-4/JRX Pro SE-4 kit? I've got too much sitting idle to try. lol!

Wonder if I can get those upright/knuckle parts for my gold pan build. Guessing not.
