Finally started on a parts lot that I had for 2 years. Much more modern than my usual. Not enjoying the 5/40 vs 4/40 hunt and peck.
I for the life of me cannot remember where I put the transmission, driveshafts or turnbuckles.
Its nice to start a project

I put a 17.5 brushless setup in my TC3 a while back and it was glitching with my AM radio. I tried a Novak Polaris receiver and it was still glitchy. Tried a Futaba R162 Rx tonight. After adjusting the throttle range a bit, all was good.

Went racing. Got TQ then my radio system failed at the start of the main. Needless to say I won't be running knock off receivers anymore. Switched over to the FlySky Noble NB4+ the old Specktrum DX5C and its hoard of knockoff receivers will be relegated to basher duty. So far I like the radio. It has a quality feel and seems to have good response. Menu system is a lot easier to deal with too. Also I can swap it to left hand if I want.

Soldered up some more 10W 30 ohm resistors for discharging new NiCd's.....

Getting my Trackmaster Beltbox

ready for a build. I really wanted to put a slipper or hydradrive on it but the top shaft is really short. If I knew where I could get a top shaft belt sprocket, I would build a new top shaft. But for now it will just have a slipper eliminator. It does run really smooth and quiet though.

Assemble some more of my optima. Dialed in the chain. Found out the the new style steering knuckle screws are absolutely hateful.

Someone on here had a source for belt sprockets recently. Silvertriple maybe. I seem to recall him using sprockets from a belt driven 3D printer.
I remember it well, which means there is a 98% chance it never happened.

But I will search for the post...

I have some parts I'm considering for modification. I won't cry too much if I screw them up.

Soldered up temporary deans connectors to some new stick packs. Now I can discharge them before tearing them down and converting them over to saddle packs.

I like both the dedication to NiCd and to Dean's 4 pin connectors.

Okay, I have to ask.
Why teardown assembled packs instead of starting with individual cells?

Mostly because I can buy new six cell 2500mAh NC-2500SCR (Super SCR) stick packs for $33.....and individual cells are on average $6-$12 a piece and crazy shipping prices. Plus....I'm going to relabel them anyway and it gives me another reason to fire up the soldering iron.
