I have some white fiberglass sheet, I will be making my own shock towers. Any way I could get you to trace out a template from the ones you have?????

Hi, I'm the owner of the website linked to in one of the first posts in this thread.

The make of the shock towers was one of the few things Joel couldn't positively confirm. The shape looked very similar to the Trinity carbon towers, but was of course fiberglass. I suggested to Joel that they could be some Trinity protoype towers, but he believed they were Thorp or CRP parts. I "investigated" that lead, but came up with nothing. I found a set of JG's, that looks like the ones pictured in this thread in a showroom over at Tamiyaclub, but couldn't get a picture good enough to confirm. If the ones in the picture a few posts up are made by John Gudvangen (JG Mfg.) then this piece of the puzzle is finally solved, as their shape looks very much like the Trinity carbon towers. I will send the picture to Joel, so he can confirm if those indeed are the same as the ones he had.

Tom

BTW
I too would be VERY interrested in flat scans of the towers shown in the picture two posts up. Please......

prp,
I has been "cold" for a few months now, but the only "major" parts still missing are the shock towers. I just sent the picture posted a few posts up to Joel, asking him to confirm if those were the ones he used. If I could get a scan of those I'll make my own from fiberglass. I'm also missing the 48 DP spur gear to match the Robinson main gear I have. The rest missing are more "cosmetic".

I'll get back to the project when time allows it.

I've got one of those JG rear towers (NIP actually) and can (when time allows) copy it and post it so you guys can make your own. Might happen this week, I'll keep you posted.

Is it the Robison main gear you look for?
I bought a couple in the past but most of them were badly machined: the back gear was not sitting in the center of the front gear :(

Mr. ED,
no, it's the 48 pitch counter gear to connect to the Robinson main gear. See the pic:

BTW
I received an answer from Joel himself today, and he still insists the shock towers he used were made by Thorp (Dirt Burners). Should we believe him, or do we "officially" go for the JG Mfg suggestion? I have personally searched high and low for towers made by Thorp, but haven't found anything that looked remotely like the ones on the WC87 Ultima. My vote still goes to the JG's.......

I got that robinson gear laying around somewhere; just like the spurs it wasn't made very accurate: with the axle hole off-center :|

I'll have to check my gear to see if it's usable then. It's still in the bag, so I haven't even considered that it might be bad...

Tom

EDIT:
I just checked my Robinson main gear, and the small gear seems to be perfectly centered on the big one.
