Hey Matt, the Kyosho Sprinter is going to get a rebuild too. I have a spare Ultima chassis that is nice so I'll use it. Look for a thread in the Kyosho section.

OK, the project crawls forward a bit. I straightened, sanded and cleaned all the aluminum parts then polished them up the best I could. I couldn't remove all the road rash but I think it's way better.

RedScampi,
That is a nice looking sprint. Looks like a fun build. I am not sure if it is a company, time frame or option situation but I have seen factory side plates both plain and louvered. Pete is correct, the main frame and nerfs are BBT. Keep us posted on the progress.

Here is the bbt vindicator and a ascot the only thing I see that is ascot is the side panels every thing else is bbt. I added the second model that ascot produced. Ascot also sold a conversion down tube set part #1320

I think that the cage in pictures 3 & 4 is an ascot..they had a different way of holding the top wing on..they used buttons where the BBT attached to the lugs on the cage..by buttons I mean inserted into the two posts on the front of the cage. The car in these pictures IS AN ASCOT it still has the build sticker inside the side panels

Awesome sprints Chris!! I didn't know that Ascot made a down tube conversion. Cool add-on.

Pete, you are right about the Ascot wing mounts. They have the threaded posts coming up off the top crossbar. Ascot also did not have the horizontal brace added to the nerf bar like the BBT. Other than that I think they were pretty similar.

I'm afraid all these cars are going to put mine to shame! I might have to start funneling money into this thing now! I made some more progress but I'll wait till I get home to post pictures.

A bit of forward progress. Rebuilt a tranny for the car with new outdrives I found at the LHS, added used Andy's rear arms and CE type front arms from my spares pile with new hardware. The chassis is not perfect so I cleaned it up and sprayed it with blitz black followed by a clear matte finish. Looks good until I can get a new one. I've decided to put more work into polishing the cage. It's nice but I want it really nice. Trying to decide on rolling stock, jury's still out.
