Associated made and sold TOJs up until a few years ago. I grabbed the last 5 or so from Tower when they had them. Always a funny looking car, but probably the most omnipresent R/C car body of all time. It was rare back in the day to see anything at a carpet track that wasn't a TOJ. They just flat out WORKED!
Seeing all of those TOJs in that photo made me glad that I kept my giant box of Delta cars and parts to restore. My 1/12th scale loot is about all that's really left in the shop now.
And to this day, I still love the look of paper wheel covers on 1/12th scale cars.
Welcome, Kent.

Here is my ANDY'S custom painted TOJ body that I picked up last year along with a pile of other 1/12 bodies only problem with it is that hte rear sides have spread need to try to get them back into place other that it has never been run. any suggestions on pulling those sides back into shape I was think of just taping them inwards for a while see if that would work

Kent,
Thanks for that great shot!
I'll post my TOJ as soon as I get my camera back.

Hello Kent,
I recall that the fin of the TOJ body always wrap outside (not staying vertically) around the rear tires. How did you get it stay properly? By shoegoo? Or heatgun to press it back?

The curl was always tough to get out, especially on the lightweight version of the TOJ that we used for big races.
I think I'd go with a heat gun prior to painting if I had to do it today. I used servo tape on some of the bodies.
I don't think Shoe Goo would be very good in that application. BTW, Shoe Goo is good for about 15 years and then it turns amber and gets brittle.

Kent, Can you tell us something about the evolution of gear pitch from 32 to 64? It was about the same time that the 12L and Losi 64P gear appeared in the WC. It was not easy to accept those tiny teeth by the parking lot racers. Though fine pitch gear was not "invented", it did post a benchmark in electric car design and tuning. How did the fine pitch idea come out at that time?

Get a full sheet of lexan they make a leagle pad size sheet we use to make wings out of them, down the side of dirt oval cars. cut a thin long strip bend it to look like a l bracket double side tape it, tie it to the other side of the body it will be light and pull it in. tie it to the chassis if you can if not side to side will work. leave it clear know one will even see it.

I'm a little fuzzy on the exact sequence that led to 64 pitch gears. The old 32 pitch extruded pinions were always rough and out of round back then. We spent a lot of time cleaning up the flashing.
The first step should have probably been 48 pitch, especially for outdoor and off-road racing. But for some reason the gear manufacturers jumped on 64 pitch.
When the first 64 pitch gears became available they were not as good as the ones today. The plastic the spur gears was made of was kind of soft and the pinions were a little too rounded. And the motor mount for our AE cars was nylon so you didn't really have a square mesh between the spur/pinion most of the time. The result was stripped gears until they got the spur material dialed in. I think Du-Mor and Kimbrough got it right fairly early. I still have bags full of Du-Mor gears

Ah , Du Mor, yes, I remember it...
I remember that AE has been proud of the profile of the teeth of its spur gear. It is very silent and you can only hear the motor rev and no gear meshing noise..Sound means energy.

I have several 1/10th scale on-road cars that I'll post photos of after I get done with my 1/12th scale collection. I never raced much off-road because I was too busy with my on-road schedule. Plus, I was a horrible off-road driver
