He works for Cape Fear Community College, in the IT department of all places. I keep trying to get him to hack the system or persuade his boss that 10Talk needs to be allowed, but so far it's no go. Our next plot is to take over the world. Charlie's got the pinkie (undies ), now all we need is a brain ...
Thumbs, I hear ya, and unfortunately, this is an all too common occurance. There are a few of us, however, that stick to the friends we've made, regardless of our affinity for things RC. My interests come and go all the time, in respect to running or building RC rigs (mostly gone ), but the enjoyment of hanging out with online friends makes it tough not to stick around, even when I'm not into the hobby much.
Charlie ...

I usually spend a lot more time on here at work myself, but like most companies mine is making adjustments due to the current economical situation. We'll come out stronger than our competition on the other end which will be nice, but in the meantime the people that normally assist me have been pulled to help with other experimental projects. That means I have to spend more time at work actually working.

I can't complain too much though, it beats the alternative...

Better to be loved in one than hated in all ...
I stay in the ChitChat so as not to jack other areas off topic. I've irritated a few folks with that in the past and that is not why I'm here.

You know where to find me if you ever want to banter ...

So this is part of the forum is like your "time out" chair, makes sense now--but you are missing all the times where I pick on Jason, Jay and a few others.
BTW, this thread has picked up steam (off topic of course) rather quickly!

Maybe Off Topic/Chit Chat should be renamed "Halgar's Time Out Corner."
I kinda like the sound of that. H-TOC. Werd.

The member numbers seem to be off a digit. Halgar was the first to sign up after Bill Krueger. I was the 6th. Though "TheFund" is not really a member so you can look at Halgar as being number 2 if you wanted.
I've been with ClodTalk since its inception six years ago and even beyond that when it was other places. I've also been here since the beginning. What does that all mean? Beyond seniority points absolutely nothing. The date you sign up on a message board really has no bearing on anything. Sure board hierarchy seems to have everything to do with join dates and post counts but at the end of the day it doesn't make much of a difference. Just because one person signed up four years ago and another signed up yesterday doesn't make one person better or know more than the other.
Now onto the subject of people leaving or visiting sporadically. From what I hear people have actual lives outside of the Internet. Some even have families! That doesn't give many the opportunity to spend large portions of their time posting on forums about subjects they take great interest in. Thats the best answer I can come up with on top of the interests coming and going thing likes been mentioned. I on the other hand spend most of my waking hours on the Internet and thus my life tends to revolve around it. Having a "job" that accompanies the internet doesn't help either.
Sometimes when I go back and re-read my posts I feel they could be interpreted as having a negative quality about them. I never necessarily mean for that or to have them directed at anybody specifically unless I name names. I'm just a guy who can be seen as mad at the world if anything.

When I first joined this board I was member #79, just by coincidence, nothing to do with my UN, but that is how I remember. Now I am #64 on the list, so that is at least 15 members that have completely disappeared since then.

Oh don't worry. The 15 (or so

) missing comrades are safe and sound. They are currently enjoying their reassignment at an undisclosed location. Nobody has disappeared per se, the just went back to school for
reeducation.
