Re-Dyeing Nylon Parts

This weekend central Delaware got about 24" of snow. We spent about three hours shovelling. It was tough, but when it was done I had earned some downtime. So, I set about re-dyeing all of the nylon parts to get everything looking fresh.
Every part was scrubbed with soap and water using a toothbrush or abrasive pad.
They were then moved into a lightly boiling pot of black Rit Dye.
Immediately after soaking in the dye, the parts went into this cold water bath to seal in the color and wash away excess pigment.
Then, they were moved onto a paper towel to air dry overnight.
I assembled one of the rear wheels, just for sake of comparison. The fresh wheel on the left really did look just like the dirty mess on the right just a few hours before.
Not bad, right?! I can't believe those old RPM wheels took the dye so well.

Sorry to get off topic Six. Reg, my parents moved from Canada to Jamaica when it was still a civilized British colony. I grew up there! What a $h!+ hole that place is now! I'm happy I moved, I wasted so many years there only for my family and I to walk away with nearly nothing! I still own a house down there, must be junk now!

I could not sell it, bad deals, people ripping me off, even lawyers!

I hate that place, full of thieves!

that red body is really cool. Do you know what it is, or who made it?

Thanks for the compliment.
The body is cool... sort of a squashed, race-bred version of a Hummvee. I really have no idea who made it, which is a shame, because I'd love to have a fresh one. Maybe it's time to cast a mold and make that vacuum table I've been meaning to fabricate!

It kind of looks like the Maxium Destruction monster truck but I don't think it is.

It is sort of similar... but definitely not the same.
I've been waiting on new hardware to arrive from Tower... needed shock rebuild kits, e-clips, stealth lube, etc. I also got a set of the aluminium inline axles and matching steering blocks to replace my destroyed axle. The box just arrived on Friday, so I hope to have some new progress pics soon.

I believe its an Andy's Hummer body. i have one and i really like it.

my suggestion-- go brushess/lipo-- You will not be disappointed! Brushless are all about torque-- how will you like to be able to pull wheelies when punching it at half throttle?

It's pretty freakin' cool. I still get all giddy with mine.

I had a very similar setup; same Composite Craft chassis, white RPM bellcranks and black arms, even cut down the motor mount like that too (didn't drill it though).
Consider rebuilding the diff; new thrust bearing, balls, and rings will only cost about $10. I going through my whole stock of parts this week, going to have four Stealths (two of them RPM conversions) ready to to drop into whatever chassis I build. All are used, but the gears, bearings, and outdrives are all fine, I'm just replacing the diff internals, slipper thrust bearing, and slipper pad, for the heck of it.
I have seen that body once before, somebody painted it like the Goldberg monster truck (Maximum Destruction before the name change and paint job) and had it on a Clod Buster. Never knew what it was originally though.
