Can you please ask your dad if he had a "works every time" method to do his shocks? I am struggling to get a good result out of the one I'm rebuilding now ;)

Thanks!

Paul
Paul,

Yes I have an answer to your shock question.
The main key is to use green slime on the o-ring and spacers before you assemble the shocks, this is very important to the shocks being very smooth and very little sticktion of the shock rods. I think associated stills sells this under thier brand, if not it may be MIP.If you really want the best diff use this on the thrust bearing and it will stay smooth for ever, but dont put it on the diff gear balls! use only the white silicone grease.

Cedric,
The front axles and carriers were from a losi Jrx 2 because production parts were not ready at that time and I wanted 30 degrees of castor for the sandy Detroit track. The more caster you run on a sandy or slick track gives you better straight line high speed control especially in Detroit with the major sand woop section it had. This is where I felt I could make up the most time on the track after the Worlds Warm Up Race.

This is amazing, thanks for joining Scott. You car I awesome and I remember the moment I saw it on the RC Car Action mag and loved the thing.
My first buggy racer was a Traxxas Bullet and had a hard time keeping up with the RC10s so I made the switch to RC10 but always wanted a TRX-1.
I am currently re-living my childhood wrenching on old RC10s and planning to build one base on your car so I am really looking forward to the photos.

Thanks again.
some pics from the mag.

Hi scot, welcome to the forum.
If you don't mind I have a couple more ignorant questions:
Unfortunately I'm not familiar with your name and work aside from what I read around here when people started replicating your TRX-1. Could you give a small overview please?
Why did Traxxas skip the TRX-2?
Why did they go back to the wider front bulkhead on the TRX-3 and TCP? (I wanted a TRX-1 but caught a nice TCP; not realizing how wide that front bulkhead is)

Hi Scott,

I started to build my own vision of your World finalist TRX1.
Your rear arm mount looks to be machined as the gear box.
But the motor plate you used comes from the Blue Eagle.
So I drill and build the thread in a Blue Eagle motor plate to fit the TRX1 gear box.
But when I assemble it on a regular TRX1 chassis, this one looks too short.

What looks to be wrong ?
Your chassis are longer as the TRX1 production car, or I'm out with my theorie ?

Thanks

Cedric

Hi Scott,

Great to have you on the forum.

One of my fellow racers here is Aus would like to know if it's true that the TRX-1 had other names prior to it's release?
