Seeing that it is in fact a 6 gear tranny, I am starting to think it is a year 1990. The stealth tranny did not come out until 1992. Does that make sense? Any recommendation on a brand motor to use or will any 27 turn motor work? Thanks again.

If it is a CE I would just switch to the Stealth tranny. Most of the parts for the stealth are still available. Are there 4 unused holes where your tranny bolts to the chassis?

Here is a 92 CE stealth

And a early 6 gear CE Early 89' -

You will want to see what shock caps you have, and the front tower to determine the rest of the parts

Looking from the bottom of the chassis, no, I don't think so. All the bolt holes, are being used....

There are a few variations of that car, ranging form the 4 hole front tower to the 6 hole, the best thing to do would be to post pics and then go from there. And the 6 gear was produced until late 91'

I thought the OP would also like to know that lower "turn" motors are more powerful. So a 19 turn is stronger/faster than a 27 turn. It was implied but I thought I'd spell it out for the OP.

being as though you have a 6 gear, i'd stay in the 27 turn stock motor range, maybe a 19 turn. no sense in grenading it if there's nothing wrong with it.
REALLY?! Oh oh... What should I look for in the transmission if I ran a lower turn motor. Something like a 10 turn double Oval Racing motor. I ran that for a couple of years until I melted the motor down.

I think we should see the bottom of the chassis before we go any farther with suggestions.
6 gears don't hold up well with modern motors/electronics!
