He's right. I use to do mid motor swaps using the Rayborn oval chassis. Mid motor works particularly well for oval applications. You may benefit from sourcing a drill plate. Associated use to sell them. Also I believe you have to turn the diff around, and cut the motor plate.

I've read this in other threads as well-- not sure i agree with it all.

It is still running well--

Charlie-- what can go wrong? The two spur gear mounting screws have loosened up a few times, but I have yet to try a little loctite on them.

Group B-- it seems to me any unloading of the rear will effectively give me a bit of anti-squat, which I can use every bit of with this thing. Iit has a hard enough time keeping the front end on the ground as it is! :)

when you flip a 3 gear trans to run mid-motor, you gotta flip the topshaft and motor plate to the other side of the case so that the motor will still run counterclockwise and the car go straight. and as reggie also pointed out, the diff needs to be flipped as well. right now, the way you have yours, your spinning the motor in a reverse rotation to compensate for it.

The motors were designed to run one specific direction for long periods of time, reverse direction in short bursts- lots to do with the Hall effect sensors and the collector plate-by running it in reverse constantly is similar to doing 85 on the freeway in your family car backwards, while in the case of your family car the engine doesn't know the difference your tranny sure does because it was not designed to operate at long periods like that-

Now, in the case of your rc10, the tranny could care less as long as the diff is in the right direction but the motor, collector plate, hall effect sensors and rotor temps do-

...but the motor, collector plate, hall effect sensors and rotor temps do-

Charlie-- I don't know much about BL motors. is this true even if it is an unsensored brushess?

a non-sensored brushless motor would not care what rotation it spun.
