slotcarrod, awesome..PM sent!!

mikea96, how is the quality of those wheels? I know others here have tried the duratrax wheels, while fitment and offset are correct, they were fragile and broke easily. Also, anywhere to get those wheels online? My LHS doesnt have TT Phoenix BX parts. I bet they can order them, but that left a bad taste in my mouth last time I attempted that with them.

Playing around last night, I set a B4 rear tower on the front part of the bulkhead. It looked really good on there, I may trace it out and attempt to cut a custom rear tower (G10) just to be different. I also plan on setting the servo up "sideways", like current cars are instead of having the 90 degree turn in the steering set up. Only time will tell if that will work, I am worried it may hit the chassis before it gets the arms into full lock.

Mailed out the top assembly of the gear box yesterday, hope you get it quickly. I sent it air mail! You will have to disassemble, clean and swap out the black dyed bearing carrier for your white one. Or just clean, re-oil the bearing, and use the black bearing carrier (has a bearing BTW). You wont see it behind the gear/diff assembly anyway! That way there's no chance of splitting the gear again!

That is awesome news Rod. Black works for me, I will end up dying the tranny black to match the chassis (dropped it off wiith the powder coater today, will pick it up next week!).

Nice choice on the ESC. I have a couple and they work great. The choice of settings on these will help the motor be more gentle on the six gear. The reduced initial torque and power settings can make up for not having a slipper.
Looks like a cool runner build.

I have good success with them and my son has a duratrax truck that he beats the crap out of and none of them have cracked or broke.

As far as I have seen. I am going to get a set and see if they are nylon or what. The problem with the Duratrax wheels is that they are a cheaper plastic and they crack and melt if they are dyed. If these are like the old AE wheels they can be dyed any color.

I made the same mistake with the easy off on my first chassis job  anyone know the rule of thumb on how long you can leave it on before you wipe it off and redo????

Progress.....the powder coater I selected took a lot more time than I expected (and ran out of the color I wanted, so we went with semi-gloss black), which put a slow down to the project. BUT the wife picked me up a present today:

Image

Mocked up a few parts I have been collecting along the way (Rusty-Racing, Charlie Don't Surf & Slotcarrod helped!!)

Image

I have a set of B4 shocks already, just need to dye up the rest of the white-ish parts and start assembling.

Still need to pick up all 4 arms (new black ones) and shock towers, B4 CVDs. Oh, somewhere along the line I should probably get a body for it, LOL.
