I suspect this may also turn into the basis of a 4wd buggy due to the upcoming Worlds...change the arms, center chassis and belt...
Just thinking out loud, I s'pose.

Hmm,
Looks a wee bit overdone for such a simple task...like someone tried to turn a freakin' BMW into a dune buggy...
Clean up on that one will be a nightmare.
Rag on Traxxas (Slash & Slash 4X4) all you want guys, but they have a way cleaner & more durable design.
I've had Associated stuff for years too, but in my opinion this is just another "me too" attempt to keep up with what someone else made popular.
I think I'll pass.

i love it. but i don't know about cliff lett's statement about the sc104x4 and the original rc10. it's not that special. the b2 was special. look at the b4/t4 and look at the similarities that came from the b2. without the b2 there probably wouldn't be an sc10/4x4.
but i'll tell you something it's sure going to make things interesting at the track. faster motors and 4wd...lmao. just like the full size rigs. it's cool that they were testing it ocrc.

X2
specially with the motor and battery in a very low position.

Yeah I was really surprised to see a belt.

I mean I love belt/chain drives from a hobbyist's standpoint, but with the power today I would think they would become the subject of folklore(along with brushed motors

). Then again, who am I to question the engineers at AE??

Looks cooler than I would have guessed.

i know if you drive a bmw you must drive like a complete Ahole .. so if you turn a bmw into a dune buggy do you have to drive the dune buggy like an Ahole too???

cool truck but way too much stuff for me.. if they make this truck as a mid 2wd id like one

Its way too busy for me as well but still pretty cool in its own right. I'm not sure if I would ever buy one. The only short course trucks I've liked so far are HPI's offerings.
Why in the world would they not have it be shaft driven??

I don't get all the belt hate, so many seem to fear them.
Aren't toothed belts used in many other applications outside rc that successfully transmit way more power than we could ever need in a 1/10?

Like superchargers

and the Losi xxx4 used them and they were great, maybe a lack of maintaince thing?

I for one have no problem with it being belt drive, very cool! The one thing I know of outside of RC that a belt drive sucks is a full size 4X4 transfer case

...

Yup, but chains in a T/C can be really noisy

Well, I guess we've found Associated's full scale inspiration!
...and I thought it was just another design rip off.

+1 on Traxxas. The Slash models have a simple and clean layout. Almost too simple - a little toy like but there's a reason everyone can beat on them with little wear. I only run AE 2WD stuff but whenever I think of picking up 4WD, I think about the Slash 4x4.
The SC10 4x4 looks really tech, but I prefer simple. Another reason I have stayed away from picking up a Traxxas was that I have a ton of AE spares...none of which would help me with this truck.
