Okay here is how I've mounted my shocks.

did you get a lot of slop from the lower link, or binding from the angle of the shock?

Originally, I tried mounting the shocks to the lower "parallel" links (how it was originally mounted) and without the original shock mounts, I kept getting slop in the links.
Where I have it mounted now has really minimized the slop in the links. I'm really happy with this setup (xx shocks, 30wt oil, losi strike springs).

well, a little later than I hoped, but I needed to modify my initial design....but here are some new lower mounts made of 1/4" aluminum. My vise jaws are serrated so it left a nasty finish I will have to beadblast or perhaps put them in a tumbler to get a nicer finish, but for me, they will work as necessary. the spring cups on the bottom are old broken lower mounts ground down and trimmed to locate the springs.

I found a set of lower links I made a while back that were inspired by the clodbuster aftermarket style links.
It didnt work as well as I'd hoped, probably need to find stronger materials to keep it from flexing.

Those are a cool idea. I would think someting similair with just maybe a bit thicker material would work well. I have not had any issues with my upper link being a titanium turnbuckle but it is not under the same load as the lower link with shock attached to it.
