Is it possible that you've got a factory powdercoated chassis there?

I think that chassis looks awesome! Unless the picture is not showing the details..

no, i wondered that, but where the nose brace tubes touch the front of the nose plate there is one tiny chip and underneath it is DEFINATELY a gold pan.

thanks aykbobcat, no, it is in really nice shape, it's just that i want something different for the car i want to build.

i'll do a test today on an old gold noseplate to see if normal paint stripper will hurt the anodizing. and the aluminum, for that matter. i'll let you know later today.

i'm guessing your goal is to re-annodize it, not just re-paint it?

yeah, i want to mirror polish it then get it reanodised either blue or i'm swinging to black at present for a real mean looking car.

Isn't that more torubles than just finding a black chassis on ebay? Just my 2 cents...

Youc could probably get good $$ for that blue chassis....

probably, i'm watching a new black pan and noseplate at present so we'll see what happens. but the blue pan would be nice stripped back to its natural gold because i have a 6010 gold pan that's really nice (except for the pan) that could benefit from it, so i wouldn't sell it anyway. i'm not really a seller at present, i'm just loving buying and building

well, i tried some automotive paint stripper on an old nose plate, and it didn't seem to do anything to the anodizing.

but, if you try it and something bad happens, don't blame me.

just a quick tip, if you scratch the paint up with some sandpaper first, the stripper will work quicker.
