Hi Guys, not been on for a while. Done a bit more to my Cougar, been collecting parts etc for the build.

Here is it so far:

I have had chassis Vapour Blasted and got new arms/hubs on the front.



Next up is the gearbox, I am going to build this up using my ali trans housing from other Cougar 1 and go from there!

Looking good!! Whats involved with 'Vapour blasting'? I like the look of the finish... kinda dull satin effect

With the aluminium chassis on these early ali chassis' 2wd Schumachers, it gives great scope for some real neat custom builds like we see with the RC10s

Im not sure of the process, I know its alot softer than sand blasting and the place I got it done does Carbs , engine heads etc so a very safe way of removing paint/dirt etc.

Im pleased with the finish on it.

Nice finish to the chassis, so it removes dirt/paint but what about scratches mate.....

Little bit of progress, been busy building my Losi 8e and Durango 410 and 210's.

Tamiya Turnbuckles fitted (had in my spares box), new Schumacher Grey ball cups, Aerial Mount and Works battery retainer fitted.




I'v fitted AE B4 shock bushings as I may run AE shocks if the Schumacher ones dont clean up that well.



Here are the front shocks I have stripped, all seem there to me.



In this pic I have started to rub the shock body down with some wet and dry, should polish up nicely.



I'm thinking of putting the shock body in a pillar drill and using wet and dry and autosol polish to clean them up, unless anyone has any other ideas??

Who makes those LIPO holders on the original photos?

They are original Schumacher that came with the car, have a search on Schumahcer website and you should find the part numbers.

Most of the parts are still available

I find various battery straps but no pics to know if the right ones?

Those are club 10 saddle pack holders. I dont think they will fit lipos.

You're right, i've tried them with the smallest lipos i have, an old set of trackpower golds, and they don't fit

I'v got a Reedy Sonic motor to go in this, is a 10 x 2, will the belt drive Cougar gearbox handle this??

I know its a bit quick for a 2wd but this will be just a fun car not a racer.

10x2 is a pretty hot motor for a stock cougar gearbox. Do you have a slipper clutch? Does the gearbox have the Pro-Diff or the stock diff?

If it is stock do not go hotter than 17T. The stock diff is pretty soft plastic and will melt easily.

If you have the Pro-diff and slipper clutch you should have no problem with a 10x2.

As long as the diff and slipper are set correctly.

Bit of an update on my Cougar.

Did the rear end today, cleaned and re-built the diff, flipped the diff plates and lots of fresh ae stealth diff lube and thrust race lube, all nice and smooth again!

New main gear too and the odd bearing that was worn out has been replaced

Gave it all a polish and new Scumacher screws on the gearbox, I'm using M3 C/S under the chassis to install gearbox, front end etc.
