OK this project is now just about finished (with exception of the shocks and body set). I'm filled with mixed feelings, I'm extremely happy to have completed this car but it also marks the end of the building of my collection, the only car that remains on my want list is a RC10 Worlds and I think I'm going to leave that one as the one I never had (it's nice not to have everything you want).

So to complete this thread I am going to post some comparison shot of the 3 Astutes, the Astute, Works Astute and Super Astute, pictured in that order.

And that's it, I know Astutes don't turn many of you guys on but I hope I have produced at least an informative thread with some nice pictures.

Well, I enjoyed the pictures. The Astute is a very capable car. I like it.

Nice Astutes you got there Ferretti, I dig them, especially the "works" one 8) Do you plan running one?

Thank you guys, yes Asso_man! I hope to run the Works in the local vintage class as long as I can convince them that the modifications would be period correct and available pre 1990, which they are/were.

The original Astute is a test ran only new built and due to it's fragility can never be a viable runner, the Super Astute is a never ran new built so that one is shelf bound too.

great info on the astute . i have a nib astute and think its is a great buggy . why all those bearings seems like in is a bit over engineered.

Great thread! The super astute was my first (and only) 2wd buggy. Used to read the Jamie booth conversion like gospel before getting the SA. Absolutley love the car, just waiting for some time to rebuild it to a nice looking state - was tempted with box art but i think im gonna mod it.

Great resto :D

This is a nice thread

I have a question. I've got quite a bit of mad cap parts I was hoping to use one of these days to make myself a home brew buggy. I'd like to make a chassis out of aluminim. I'm missing the diff gear set though. Does Tamiya have a car right now that uses the same diff as the Astute/MadCap?
