Yes it is a joke here at work. On the parts we produce, we have a tolerance of .010" I know there are tighter tolerances out there but it's a beeotch to keep a 12 foot part within the tolerances

On a 12 ft piece, the tolerance should be more like 0.25 in..... I guess unless you are going military, but then again I gues it would dependent what the military deliverable is. Ford Mustangs used to come off the line anywhere from +-0.25 to 0.5 in, I know AMG and HMMWVs (Hum-vees) are +- 2 to 3 inches (no joke).

I work for a prominent military contractor in a classified program and thats all I can say. Kind of a bummer when your at a party and someone asks, "What do you do?"

Wow, 2-3 inches. That's crazy. We had really tight tolerances when building trannies for Caterpillars wheel loaders, log skidders, and motor graders. But one rule always stood above the rest: "When in doubt, ship it out"

Me too Jim, I know how it feels. Nothing Classified right now, but I go to FOUO and Classified meetings ever now and then. You in the JPAS system?

I could not find the thread I posted months ago on here showing how much I chopped off the tub on my Scollins RC10 Scorcher- (which I assume you were inspired by scr8p-he he)

I have not been on this great site lately as the day job as a car designer is draining me from getting time for the RC10s- long story slowly moving into a new company possibly but may be a couple /three months....blah blah blah...



Hope all is well, when the career madness settles down I will be back on the RC10 talk more regularly..............

one rc10, ready for some cuttin'. it's just kinda mocked up in the pic. the noseplate still needs to go back about a 1/4" or so. the shock tower is against the tub right now.
